So, i’m interested in two of this month’s selections. The Fracking King and Supreme Justice. Thoughts on which is the best bet? Collins is a known quantity (though it has an uncredited co-author), but the Browning book sounds interesting. I’m actually curious about Artful too, but rarely does someone playing in another writer’s universe work for me. I’d go splits with my sister and borrow the other but she writes she’d get the romance if she got anything. :smack:

I also had the same dilemma and ended up taking Artful.
As a Prime member, I don’t know how I missed this program (Kindle First). Unfortunately, it’s all Amazon-published titles and I’ve found (IMHO, of course) that they still haven’t reached the quality of normal publishers.
If you use Kindle First, it doesn’t count against your one borrowed book a month, right?

That fracking book does look interesting. I’m deciding between that and Artful. Kind of leaning towards Fracking, just to pick up a piece of literary fiction. I don’t read enough of that.
Supreme Justice sounds like it could be good, too. Seems like a similar story to Pelican Brief.

The dilemma is a big part of Kindle Prime - I’ve bought a lot more books because I’ve been introduced to new authors and sought out their other books, but you also encounter so many bad authors you become risk-averse as far as spending money on an unknown.
Typically, I’d get Fracking for free and buy the other - I’ve read Max Collins and like him, so I’d be spending money on a known quantity (I bought one of his books just last month). But Supreme Justice seems derivative (as someone said, it’s the plot of The Pelican Brief) and it’s got a ghost co-author, which is kind of dodgy.
I did too. None of the others particularly appealed to me, but I’ve been enjoying graphic novels on the kindle more than I expected to.
My dilemma was between Supreme Justice and Artful: I chose the former.
I might still buy Artful. I might also check out Terry Pratchett’s Dodger (thanks to a comment in one of the reviews).
