King of the Hill 4/9 (spoilers)

Good episode. The mega-church was a little bizzare; I wonder if all the shops are open during the week or just on Sundays. I was half-expecting Peggy to put on vestmants and try to give a sermon. And why is Lucky in every episode all of the sudden? And why is he at the Hill house and calling Hank “Uncle Hank”? Did he marry Luanne? She doesn’t even know his last name, but that doesn’t mean anything.

This was the best episode in quite a while. The show’s been stale lately, so I was glad to see an ep as good as this one. And I got to admit, the bits with Lucky were the funniest parts of the show. (I didn’t even realize that Tom Petty does that voice, till I saw the credits.) Actually, I think the show is always better when Luanne is involved, more so than Lucky. I guess it’s been tough for them with Brittany Murphy being out of the loop so much in recent years, but when she shows up KOTH gets noticably better.

Awesome episode, probably the funniest one this season.

Some of my favorite lines:

Peggy: “Fine. We won’t go to any church. You, and I, and our son will live the barren, empty lives of secular humanists.”

Bryce: “One thing people don’t realize about car dealerships is the easy access to cocaine. Whoo! But God was still looking out for me! Sent my wife to tazer me in the shower. Praise the Lord!”

Hank: “I thought we were covered by the pregame prayer.”

And, of course, any episode where Hank gets drunk kicks ass by default.

I was ticked at Rev. Strupe for caving to Hank re the assigned seating business. He behaved like a child and should not have been granted anything, if you ask me. Once again, Peggy didn’t get enough come-uppance for me (she’s my favorite character on whom to wish ill-will).

I loved Buck’s church. That scene was very funny.

Overall, I’d have to say I was satisfied with last night’s episode.

Not extremely satisfied? What could they have done to make your experience more satisfying?

I don’t really watch King of the Hill that much anmore but I watched it last night. I enjoyed. I liked that as oppressive and annoying the big church was…the pastor there was actually a nice devoted guy.

My favorite line was after Lucky talked about his ‘religion’ and Luanne said something about how smart Lucky was Hank says “Luanne, I happen to know (half-beat) that’s assine.”

I had to miss the second half last night, can someone fill me in on how it ended?

I was very surprised by that scene. I figured that Buck would attend some church that put more emphasis on comfortable pews, quick services, and using church social functions to make business contacts. Buck Strickland never seemed to be the speaking tongues type.

Actually, I wasn’t. Buck’s a passionate–for lack of a better word–man. It’s really not all that surprising he worships as hard as he drinks, gambles, etc.

You have a point Urban Chic.

The mega-church Reverend started getting annoyed by Peggy’s meddlesome nature (and who wouldn’t?) at the same time that Hank was becoming fed up with the exhausting pace of the church activities. The Reverend suggested that they go back to their old church, and brushed off Peggy’s strenuous objections.

Hank solved the seating problem by (ostensibly - it’s never explicitly said that he’s the one who tipped them off) telling the new family who had stolen their seats about all of the benefits of the mega-church and convincing them to jump ship. Stroup still wouldn’t promise the Hills their own seats, but she finally gave in when Hank started talking about how the mega-church could benefit Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer.
