Kingdom on Netflix - Korean Zombie show

During the quarantine/lockdown, my wife and I have watched all of Kingdom, a Korean show made by Netflix for Korea Netflix. Because Netflix made it, they also produced an English audio dub if you are interested, though the show is made by a Korean crew and is entirely in Korean.

Anyway, it’s…amazing. The “zombie attack” sequences are incredible, intense, bloody, and pretty original.

There are two seasons of six episodes each and while there is some meandering around, the final two episodes in season 2 were some of the best action set-pieces of recent TV history.

Anyway, has anyone else watched this show? Well worth it during your time inside.

I’m working my way through season 2. Yes, extremely high production values - it looks as good as Game of Thrones, nothing looks cardboard or from the Props department, and the zombie attack scenes are much better I think than GoT.

The plot could do with some work, but its serviceable. The dubbing is not bad, but can be a bit distracting.

Never heard of the show, but is sounds worth checking out. I saw Korean movies in the 70’s, when in California. The endings were often different than what you would expect in American films.

There should be an emmy for best hats.

Is it as good as Train to Busan?

Yes, though not right away. But, yes, there are some sequences as thrilling and pulse-pounding as the most intense moments in Train to Busan.

…when my brother started showing this to me I had no idea it was a Zombie show. So the intrigue, the political set ups, they all worked for me independent of the the fact that this was also a show about “the walking dead.” Even when the zombies kept turning up I still thought the political back-story was the point of it all. It wasn’t until the third episode when I looked at my brother and said “wait a minute: is this a Zombie show?!!!??!” And he cracked up laughing.
