Kitchen appliances you don't have..you crave but are sheepish to buy....

Miter saw.

Wouldn’t you like to know what I’m cooking. :stuck_out_tongue:

sigh Prostitute soup again, Cervaise?

I’ve always wanted a quality ice cream maker; one of the top line ones with an internal freezer system. But they start around $500 so I’ve stuck with the ones that use ice.

Luxury.

In my day, we had to cook our food between two slightly-warmed rocks.

I want a poffertje pan.

Yoddleyoddleoddleoddle yoo hoo! Swiss speciality where you melt raclette cheese and grill viande on top. Super fabulous dinner party set-up that is better than fondu.

JavaMaven: many thanks for those wonderful online kitchenware sites.

I just received a Hot Diggity Dogger today for my birthday (which isn’t exactly until Sunday).

I don’t know how well it works. We don’t have hot dogs or buns in the house at the moment. If it works as advertised, I think I just found my new favorite kitchen appliance.

Some Sugardale dogs and the one and only Original Ballpark Mustard and I’ll be all ready for baseball season.

In a pinch, due to lack of availability, I’ll substitute Stadium Mustard , but, as their own history page will tell you, it’s just a knock-off of the Original Ballpark Mustard.

Not exactly an appliance, but I’m intrigued with those vacuum coffee makers. They say you can make even the strongest coffee with no bitterness. No bitterness? That I’ve got to try. (I’m one o’ them “supertasters”)

I want one of those machines that claim to open stubborn jar lids. With the onset of arthritis, I need all the help I can get.

This espresso machine. If I ever have a kitchen large enough. Or another job. Whatever.

I’ve got one of those! His name is Steve.

Do you already do the spoon trick? I’ve known a lot of people who don’t know about it, so sorry if it’s a dumb question.

I’d love just ONE really good chef’s knife, like all the TV chefs have. I got a regular knife block as a gift with the set of steak knives, the small paring knife, the big one for meat, the long one for bread… but none of them are sharp or terribly good for cutting. I wouldn’t mind paying for ONE versatile knife that can cleave through tomatoes and onions with one deft stroke… or ninjas, for that matter!

Of course, I’d love a decent (mid-range) food processor too. I can make hummus in the blender in a pinch, but I’d experiment all the time making salsas and sauces if I had a Cuisinart-type dealie.

I want a $699 Mixmaster.

Color me clueless about the limitations that arthritis places on you, but I believe OXO makes one of those jar lid opener things with a nice big fat rubber handle, so it might be good for arthritis sufferers. I suck at opening slippery jars, so this is a godsend.

Feh. :smack:

I meant to add my dream kitchen appliance list.

Uh… does it count if I ask for a cute houseboy?

Seriously… uhm. Probably a genuine Dutch stroopwaffel waffle iron. Those things are an invitation to gastronomic heaven, an oral orgasm contained in two slices of waffle and honey. cue dramatic weeping

Unfortunately, an electric one that makes four at a go costs 165 euros. :frowning:

We have a sandwich smoosher, too. I got it from my aunt years ago, and it’s been instrumental in helping my husband learn to cook. It’s so non-threatening, you see. The worst thing about it is that you can’t use real bread- spongey white works best.

It’s still good for a quick meal.

Bigger kitchen first.

A KitchenAid mixer with all the attachments, especially a dough hook. I’m wearing out my Cuisinart’s motor doing bread dough. A big self-cleaning stove. A really big chest freezer. A large fridge. One of those vacuum sealer things. Kitchen scales.

I’m going to stop now. There seems to be an infinite number of cooking gadgets that I want.

I paid $125 for one at -Tuesday Morning this weekend. I’d been wanting one for a long time and when I saw it at that price - SOLD.

(Mine’s black).

I feel kinda spoiled, we have almost everything mentioned including the Mitre saw.
(I don’t have the diggity dog, deep fryer or waffle iron but don’t want them.)
Out of everything, I like the espresso machine (Solis) and the griddle the most.

Would love a double wall oven, but make do with the Dacor 4 burner gas stove and electric oven.

I want a big range style cooker, like this, a breadmaker, and a wizzy hand blender. Its the lack of space in the kitchen that’s the problem, however. :frowning:

As a single guy living alone, I feel spoiled. I don’t do much cooking, but my kitchen has:

  • Refrigerator with ice dispenser
  • Ceramic cooktop/hob
  • Double oven
  • Dishwasher
  • Coffee maker
  • Electric water kettle
  • Microwave oven
  • Sink disposal

It would be nice to have a built-in hot water dispenser. However, it would have to go into the hole occupied by the sprayer, and I’d need a new faucet with a sprayer built into the spigot.

I could use a toaster, but I really don’t make toast.

Top of my lsit for kitchen improvements, though … an under-counter wine cooler.
