Just thought I’d share. I really doubt that this was ever used by the Egyptians; the method suggested by the recent Nova episode on PBS seems more likely. They concluded a pit of sand was probably built up around the intended site, the obelisk plopped in, and the sand slowly removed. Still, it would have been pretty cool if kites had been used.
I think this is one of those things that I would have to see to beleive. At least more evidence to back it up. I could search I guess though huh? shrugs
