All my fingers and toes are crossed for the rescue of the little furry mite.
But I gotta ask - how does one “inadvertently” flush a kitten?:eek::eek:
When I brought my kitty Joey home he was about 9-10 weeks old. He followed me everywhere, even into the bathroom, and wanted to explore everything. At one point he followed me into the bathroom and I stood up from the toilet and flushed and he took a running leap into the toilet. I caught him about an inch above the bowl but if I hadn’t been paying attention he might have gotten sucked down the toilet tubes.
He still follows me into the bathroom 6 years later but now it is because he wants me to turn on the sink so he can drink out of it.
I’m not sure I’d have left the kid alone with the kitten for even a few minutes, which is how I presume it all started. I know small children can be amazingly sneaky, but supervision is key when dealing with the combination of kids and animals.
That said, I’m glad the kitten is alive although I hope it doesn’t develop any horrible infections from ingesting or aspiring nastiness.
Sure, but the kid is three. At that point kids are still learning that hitting other people hurts them, so it’s not hard to imagine that she had no idea that the kitten could be seriously injured if it was flushed, unlike the objects she’d flushed earlier. I’d be a lot more worried about the girl having mental issues if she was five or six.
