Today we officially became a 2.8 cat household. A few weeks ago, our 10 month old kitten Milo had a run in with a car, which has left him with only a 1 inch tail. Feeling very guilty, we now think that he’s going to become a ‘outdoors is a sometimes treat’ cat - but worried that he will get bored and destructive if left by himself all day. The other cat is female and quite a bit older - she finds him annoying, and we were hoping that by getting another young male, we would improve the dynamics, but hadn’t found one we thought would suit.
Saturday night I had a dream that Milo’s little brother was trying to get in through the back door, so the next morning we made plans to visit our local animal shelter. We looked around the kits on show, but didn’t find anyone that we were drawn to, and then heard that there were some more out the back (ooh, spooky!). The assistant told us she had a pair of fluffy white kittens, and went to get them. The boy immediately began purring, smooching and rolling on his back - he was pretty much perfect, and we were sold. Then the assistant told us that he was on death row - and would have been put down today if we hadn’t chosen him! Luckily for him, he’s now safe at home with us, in isolation for a few days before he meets the others.
And now, all he needs is a name, which is where you all come in. We’ve been toying with Odin, Isaac, Loki, Nanuq or Niko, but as he has an unexplained crop circle on his back, Roswell could be good too. We’re open to suggestions thought!
Oh yes, obligatory kitty photos here. Just had to make sure you read to the very end!
Beautiful kitty! Or maybe that should be handsome, since he’s a boy?
My daughter says Monaco, for some reason. Prince Monaco, she just added.
Good luck to you, and good on you for saving him!! He looks like a very good-natured kitty too. Hope the kitties will all get along and he’ll be a good companion for Milo. Poor thing, how will he be able to keep his balance now?! AWww!
On the other hand, as a historical reference to the guy who came up with the idea of bifocals, it occurs to me that “Benjamin” is an extremely fun name for a kitty.
He is beautiful - and you get extra karma points for saving a condemned kitty!
I do like Roswell, and Sundae is cute.
Hang around him for a few days and he may tell you his name.
What?
Cricket told me her name when I went to heat up her bottle one night. I told my husband “I’m going to get Cricket’s bottle…Cricket? Cricket? Where did that come from?”
Cricket sends purrs to Milo - she has less of a tail than he does due to a run-in with a lawn mower as a 2-week-old feral kitten. She doesn’t seem to miss it, although she does think the tails of all the others make great toys.
