Kittens?

Yes or no?

Um… yes please?

YES.

I don’t like cats so I won’t have kittens but if they could genetically engineer a perpetual kitten, I would be all over it.

ETA: What a silly question to ask here. Isn’t there a new SQUEE KITTY! thread every week or something?

I’ll have mine with mayo.

As Ogden Nash wrote,

“The trouble with a kitten is that.
Eventually it becomes a cat.”

I’ll just put in that I think that ‘The Rule’ applies to kitten threads.

Myself, I’m somewhat on the fence. I have no objections at all to kittens.

Next month, maybe. We’re getting a slow steady rain here, so I expect a dandy crop in a month or so.

See, I’ve always said you can tell the difference between a REAL cat person and a wannabe by their reactions to kittens. Most people think kittens are adorable and funny and say, “Oh, I wish they could stay that way forever!” Whereas, REAL cat people say, “Gah, I can’t wait 'til he’s out of this stupid stage and becomes a real cat.”

Not if you know just when to harvest.

No thanks. We have plenty.

You’ve made my thread!

Kittens??!!! Good gracious, no. We have enough kittens to last for years. By no means could we possibly make room for any more of the little buggers. Nope, no room here for kittens. Send 'em somewhere else, we’re full up. No sirree. Uh-uh. Negatory. We don’t want any more kittens.

Oh, all right, bring 'em on.

WAR Kittens?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

But only if you spay or neuter the little bugger after you’ve adopted one.

We waited a bit too long once. The results were not pretty.

My, what a silly question.

“CyndiYawper”? - I’m humbled by your Pun-Foo (mischievous little furball too by the look of her)

Second funniest thing I have read this week!

I had that happen to me.

Twice.

We adopted a pair of three-legged kittens to keep them from being sent to a shelter and mostly being killed. The male was neutered when he started spraying the house, but we put off doing his sister for financial reasons. We forgot that we had an un-neutered adult male (he was very mellow, and never went outside) until Muffin went into heat and he jumped her. We meant to have him neutered before she had the kittens, but never got around to it. So of course she ended up having a second litter almost immediately. Fortunately they were both small litters, three and two kittens, but it still made for a lively household.

We are in the 2nd month of heat with our little Willow, as we managed to miss her window of opportunity before the hormones kicked in. She’s yowling mornfully at the kitchen table behind me right now. Her spay appointment is in a week and a half, which was the earliest our vet would make the appointment once she heard she was already in heat.

All of the other pets in the house are girls, and they’re all fixed, and all of the cats stay in the house 100% of the time, so we don’t have any pregnancies to worry about, but I do wonder sometimes if we’re going to wake up in the middle of the night to the sounds of the 3 other cats trying to flush her down the toilet. “JUST SHUT UP FOR THE LOVE OF OG!!!”

Why not?
