One of our two "kittens " (now a year and a half old) - the little sister - is not home when mr.emilyforce and I come home. Probably she jumped a full story down off our upper-level front porch, maybe to face off with a free-roaming tortie girl named Neko that has been taunting her in the last few weeks… but we left the door to the porch open.
Bridget does not have a collar. Neko has a collar, but Bridget does not. Her brother Oliver is crying piteously for her. We looked and looked and looked and cannot find her, not under any of the bushes or cars on our street.
mr.emilyforce reminds me that Bridget is smart. She is probably OK and probably knows her way back to Food Central.
Bridget the Princesscat is not a snuggler; she is a “I will permit you to touch me, perhaps, if you approach properly and I am in the mood” vixen.
Oh no emilyforce I’m so sorry. I’ve had the same thing happen with my Greyboy twice, but he did manage to come home both times despite the fact that he’s a strictly indoor cat, so I’m sure Bridget will be able to manage it as well. I would try blanketing the immediate neighborhood with posters that have her picture on it, maybe with a reward offered. Also be sure to leave some food out where she might be inclined to find it. Good luck!
Put up lots of posters with her picture on them. Someone will see her. My previously-indoor cat was lost last year, and It took me 18 days to find him. And he’s quite elderly.
Posters, yes, and flyers; we will do this first thing tomorrow AM. Our elderly cat disappeared last year and we recovered him this way.
At the moment Oliver is crying piteously. He has caught a bug, but he and his sister usually share the bug-slaughter fun…

I KNOW BETTER* than to have let her on the porch without a collar and tag.
You’re quite sure she can’t be someplace indoors like a closed closet? I’ve had cats do that and not even bother to meow to let me know they were there - they were too busy sleeping.
Oh yes. This place (our rental in Austin) is small and limited in closetness. This was the first thing mr.emilyforce and I checked, especially on account of Bridget in her kittenhood had got trapped in my clothes-closet one long day and pissed on everything in there. Who could blame her? but it helped me learn to close the damn door every morning.
I’m so glad for you and Princess Bridget! Collars, tags and microchips are all good things. I just want to chime in with a quick addition. If your cats are not supposed to be outdoors, put something on their tags to let people know. All my cats have either ‘I’m Lost’ or ‘Call my Mom’ and the phone number, instead of their names on them, so anyone who reads the tag can’t think that they are supposed to be outside.
I just saw this thread now, but I’m glad the animal came back. I worry about Boris slipping out because the female birth giver is the kind that absent-mindedly leaves the windows open enough for him to poke out the screen or keep the door open too long when she’s entering/exiting it.
