Klan gets a taste of Karma.

“Serves the dumbass crackers right.”

Is this not hate speech?

Grady

what gave you the idea that they were from FLorida?

This ranks right up there with the press photo of an anti-American demonstration in [I don’t remember where it was, so just check one: Egypt/Pakistan/the West Bank/Syria/Lebanon etc.] where a young man, while burning the U.S. flag, managed to set himself on fire.

I think his experience in the hospital has to be a Karmic event as well. He was probably rushed to hospital by EMTs of an “inferior race.” His head and brain were probably put right by a Surgeon of an “inferior race.” His recovery, of course, attended to by Nurses of an “inferior race.”

hey man, nice shot

Yes, I know who it’s really about, but the lyrics do seem to fit.

“I wish I would’ve met you,
I’d say-- nice shot.”

Racist.

Right, because Klansmen don’t have the right to have unpopular beliefs. Because they’re racists, and that’s worse than being a rapist, right?

Actually, it would be better to call me prejudiced. I am indeed, prejudiced against people in the Klan, and people who bring their children to Klan ceremonies. I believe they are small-minded, drooling idiots whose beliefs are based on hatred and fear. I have judged them as mean, stupid, petty, people, and I took a moment of joy from their pain. I have, therefore, judged an entire group of people, that being Klansmen, before getting to know each and every one of them personally. Just like I don’t know you personally, yet I’m begining to judge you. And I’ll give you one guess how that is going.

So no, I’m not a racist. However, feel free to call me prejudiced.

I read Art’s post 3 times and I still don’t see where he ever said either of those things. You either are attributing beliefs without evidence, or you’re one of the best mindreaders in the world. And, once again, I’ll give you one guess on how that one will come out.

Well, you did use a racial slur. Or do you throw them around so often you don’t even notice?

You said “cracker,” a racial slur. If you can’t see how that is racist, you are a moron.

He implied that their complaint that they would be discriminated against was wrong, when, in fact, they shouldn’t be discriminated against because of their beliefs.

I can read. You, however, cannot see implications.

Cracker is a racial slur? Well, I had no idea, so I guess I’ll apologize for my racial insensitivity. So, to all white people, including myself, my wife, to Eternal, and to all the other oppressed white people around the globe, I’m sorry for my racial insensitivity. Please forgive me. And please don’t tell my mom that I hate all white people. She’ll be a tad bit upset. Seeing as how unknowingly using a racial slur makes me a racist. Whew, thank god for agiantdwarf, who, incidentally, must be a heightist.

So mind reader it is.

Your being white is not an excuse for using racial slurs.

Actually, not knowing it was a “racial slur” might be an excuse, and what do you know, that’s what I said. But, once again, thank god you’re a mindreader.

So, once again, I apologize. Anything else you need from me?

This is the argument of an adolescent after his first week of debate class. How fun it must be to argue an unpopular cause over semantic bullshit. How clever you are, huh? Well, no actually, 'cause Art was pointing out irony, not advocting discrimination. Yeah, I know, it’s not as much fun, but the hyporicy you so want to see just doesn’t exist here.

Haj

No, Hamlet, with respect the problem is that you could have just said “Sorry, didn’t mean to use it like that, didn’t know.” Instead, you’ve come back very snarkily with that diatribe three posts or so up as if you really didn’t care who you offended or not.

I personally find “cracker” very offensive to me. As well as “wet dog” - and I don’t care for people who use those terms (with intent). Not that you should give a shit about me and what I feel, but if you’re wondering if you offended anyone else by using the term, yes, you likely did. Which I’m sure wasn’t your intent.

Racial slurs are racial slurs, regardless of what race they’re about, regardless of who uses them (with intent), and regardless of whether the target is “oppressed” or not. Racial injustice and racial divisiveness are two of the great evils that remain unexpunged from our society, as they demean and belittle the sum total of a person as being a face, a colour, an appearance. Now you won’t find me arguing in defense of such things as LA’s “master/slave” controvery, but I feel that to me “cracker” is not terribly different than “nigger” must be to a person of colour. However, not having shared the life experiences of a truly oppressed person, I will never really know. I have been a victim of a physical assault (mostly) because of my race, however, which is more than most white people can say.

The rest of your point and OP was good, so why not just say you messed that one point up, and move on?

Eh. I didn’t see your second post, since the hamsters locked mine up for several minutes. Just “never mind” what I said.

I apologize Una, I had no idea cracker was as offensive as it appears it is. I will make every attempt to remove it from my lexicon, unless I’m referring to a Ritz or a walnut opener.

Johnson City is my hometown, and, really, it’s a nice town. Except for idiots like these.

As for karma, I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to work, unless these people were also willfully ignorant peckerwood racists in a former life.

I’m sorry too - I didn’t mean to be picky towards someone on this holiest of days (for me). I was just trying to defend why someone might find it offensive.

In retrospct, I should have known that you didn’t mean anything and it was all in the spirit of your OP (which was a great story, and I admit like others here to feeling a sense of “divine justice” at work).

I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving! (even if you’re not in the US…)

Now it’s time for Una Persson to apologize to me for using a racist expression.

Person of Colour

I hate this with a passion. Because it implies that there are two kinds of people in the world;
a> White People, and;
b> “People of Color” (all ‘non-whites’ lumped together)

It seems to me that this expression is perfect for racists. White racists can use it to apply to all people not white, while people who hate “whites” can use it in the same manner.

What a load of crap.

Fair enough, Chimera, because you are offended I apologize for using that expression.
