Knock me out!

For whatever reason, I’ve been unable to sleep the last two nights (well, sum total of maybe four hours). I’m beat. And I’ve got a flyday tommorow - i.e., I’ve got to get up way early and catch a plane to go work in a partner company’s office all day and then fly home.

Man, I have to get some sleep tonight. So, my plan is to whip up a dinner that is designed to put me under. No booze tonight; that would probably aid the entrance to snoozeville, but it might impede the 4:30 AM awakening.

What would y’all suggest? I’m presently considering a good old mega dose of protein and carbohydrates as in barbecuing a steak to have with pasta and bread. But if any one of y’all has a pretty sure knock out meal in mind, Id like to hear about it. Remember my current condition - I’m not really up to a culinary tour de force today.

Thanks in advance. I must leave now, but I’ll check back in when I’m leaving the office for good ideas to fetch from the store on the way home.

Regards all,

beatle

Turkey. Good ol’ Triptophan, or however you spell it. Eat enough, and it’s goodnight, beatle!

You can’t forget a nice hot bath or shower. Relaxing is the key here. Spagetti, lots of it, does the trick for me.

I find melatonin relaxes me enough to drop off. I’ve heard from some sources that it may be nothing more than a placebo, but it helps me.

Then again, a single glass of wine knocks me out… I’m such a wuss…

Two melatonin caps 4 hours before intended bed time. No morning “Hangover” feeling either and its still easy to get up.

Swift kick to the head?

Just kidding… Spaghetti always does it for me too. Or you can always take Nyquil.

The nightime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, what the hell am I doing on my kitchen floor medicine.

I don’t know that you need to completely give up the booze. I have found that one glass of red wine before bed time helps me sleep. And you hardly have to worry about a hang over from one glass of wine.

I would also second the turkey. I know that it is said to help you sleep. I have never noticed an affect though.

Finally, I would try taking a nice long hot bath or shower before bedtime. It will help you relax. And the hot water always makes me sleepy.

Definitely try not to focus on sleeping too much. I have found that when I worry about trying to sleep I have a much harder time falling asleep.

Damn you FairyChatMom!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!

Maybe you should limit your caffeine intake? This seems just a bit of a over-reaction…

hehehehehe

I’ll third the turkey.

If you don’t feel like cooking up turkey parts, try sauteing some ground turkey and adding to a sauce to use over pasta.

I was going to suggest the ground turkey meatballs and pasta dinner, but Sue beat me to it. With a glass of red wine and a dose of melatonin, then a hot shower right before beddy-bye time, maybe some white noise in the background to soothe and distract you as you hit the sheets, you should be out like a light.

Then, awake feeling refreshed and rarin’ to go!

Hey, thanks everyone!

I’d thought about spaghetti; it just seemed like a little more effort than I’d like to make tonight. But now I’m off to the grocery store to shop turkey.
