I just saw a repeat of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer pretends to be an automated movie guide on the telephone. Can a New Yorker explain what’s with Kramer’s goofy accent? Is it just his attempt to sound like a recorded voice, or is there more to it? Sometimes when I see this episode, I think Kramer’s trying to do a mid-Atlantic accent, other times it sounds sort of like a Chinese accent.
He’s pretending to be the Moviefone guy, who has a voice that sounds (vaguely) like that.

Call 333 (or 777, depending on where you live) FILM. That’ll explain it.
Or listen to him at the end of the episode; he comes (unseen) to Kramer’s apartment and threatens him.
Mr. Moviefone also features prominantly in the movie Josie and the Pussycats
m’yes, asuming that we have that service here, which we don’t, hence the question.
