Krunch Kote on an Ice Cream Cone

Had it growing up in Wisconsin at most soft serve ice cream places. Usually from the now defunct Boy Blue and more recently Dairy Queen.

Googling around a bit, it appears that Dairy Queen stopped making the crunch coating some time ago but some franchisees still carry it.

I’m from NE Ohio in 80’s until 93 then moved to mid Ohio and left 2001. I think I remember seeing it, but I don’t ever remember having it or knowing what it was called…maybe…

One page leads to another… I remembered when I was a kid and my Aunt took me and my brothers to the old Dairy Queen for dipped cones. I always got chocolate and brother number 2 always got butterscotch. This Dairy Queen wasn’t renovated like the one at the other end of town. We always called it the “Moo Dairy Queen” because of the sign.

Further down the page - my first real job at age 16 was at the State Theater. A big old theater with an actual balcony (and separate entrance, unfortunately).

You can’t go by that! Right here on the boards we have a poster who has repeatedly insisted that where he’s from in NY should be considered part of New England.
Anyway, the closest thing I’ve ever heard of that similar is a Nutty Buddy. You don’t buy those at an ice cream stand, though. Either you buy them from the ice cream man’s truck, or buy them in a supermarket, but either way it’s a prepackaged ice cream novelty, not something prepared to order.

Lifelong West Coast resident, never heard of this before, would like to try it. Sounds good.

Used to see it on offer at Chicago-area Dairy Queens.
Had it once or twice.

Same

Current Columbus resident. Pittsburgh resident in the 70’s and early 80’s - had it there, have it now (although it is rare). Most frequently I find the DQ version of it vs. independent ice cream shops.

Live in Central Ohio but not from here. I’ve taken my kids to Dairy Queen many times over the years, pass one a few times a week and there used to be one at the pool where we have a membership. Also go to Graeters, Handels and other places. Can’t recall ever seeing it on a menu or anything. Maybe it’s a special request thing that someone has to tell you about. The picture looks like someone poured a box of kid’s cereal on top of ice cream.

Ok I challenge you too to ask for it and report back  I promise it’s delicious.
