Kucinich planning to file articles of impeachment on Cheney

Senators can’t co-sponsor articles of impeachment. Wrong house.

Update: The bill now has four co-sponsors: Kucinich (D-OH), Albert Wynn (D-MD), Janice Schakowsky (D-IL), and William Clay (D-MO). Wynn is the first one on board who is not a member of the House Progressive Caucus.

Maxine Waters is on board, too.

Update: Rep. John Conyers now (kindasorta) supports impeachment.

Update: The impeachment bill now has 14 sponsors:

Yvette Clarke
William Lacy Clay
Keith Ellison
Bob Filner
Jesse Jackson Jr.
Hank Johnson
Dennis Kucinich
Barbara Lee
Jim McDermott
Jim Moran
Jan Schakowsky
Maxine Waters
Lynn Woolsey
Albert Wynn

I dunno… I looked up this name because of its vague familiarity, and found that some organization called Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (I looked it up, but could find little about any partisan ties, although their Wikipedia page has quite a bit of info on criticism they’ve made of the Bush Administration) has named her one of the most corrupt Senators in Washington two years running.

I think this thing will only gain any clout when folks sign on to it whom (a) the general public has heard of and (b) are generally known as upstanding politicians (relatively speaking, of course).

[shrug] What o’ that?! There is no arguable reason why Maxine Waters, no better than she should be as it may be, shouldn’t have signed on with this bill, and it was introduced in the first place by Saint Dennis Kucinich! There is no better nor purer stand-up guy on the Hill!

Mighty oaks from little acorns grow.

Not from that bunch of nuts.

One must admit that it would be taken a bit more seriously if Edward Kennedy signed on as well as Kucinich.

Methinks you have a bias where Congressional nuts are concerned.

If they got rid of Cheney, it’d be a disaster - George Bush would be President.

Kucinich has every right to be overoptimistic. Have you seen his wife?

I guess we’ll see, won’t we?

Although I will freely admit a certain distaste for that asscrack Waters. She is, of course, a Democratic asscrack, and therefore the Usual Suspects will hear no evil about her, but as long as the silly bitch is wasting her time on this political mutual masturbation, she isn’t doing as much harm to the Republic as she might otherwise.

He’s a senator. Impeachment bills can only originate in the House.

One must admit that it would be taken a bit more seriously if Edward Kennedy endorsed the effort as well as Kucinich.

So you don’t think that having her name on this, never mind her still being in office in the first place, taints the effort at all?

Granted, if you only tried to sparkling clean people to sign onto this, you’d have, like, three signatures, if that, but it’s just the discomfort I get when someone I’d rather not have on my side is on my side. It’s a visceral thing, y’know?

She’s not a senator.

Speaking as a liberal, Maxine Waters is a fruit bat.
