Kylie in LOTR??

So she reckons

Hmm, lets see. Kylie: been in 1 or 2 films, one lead role in something no-ones ever heard of (the Delinquents?), and a bit part in Moulin Rouge, as a fairy. She’s about 4 foot tall and not particularly attractive (i’ve seen her in real life. twice.)
Wants to be Galadriel, evidently relying on the fact she’s Australian.

EEEERRRRRNNNKKK!

No.

Cate Blanchett: Been in loads of films, highly rated actress, tall, beautiful (certainly far more so than Kylie), brought grace and elegance to the part.

will do for me.

Thankfully, Jackson didnt cast Kylie. Remember, showing off your tiny arse at every given opportunity at 36 years old is no guarantee you can play a part in a major trilogy. What she was thinking in even going for it, I don’t know.

Awwwww, I like her. I don’t see her as Galadriel, but she was very cute as the green Fairy.

So the OP is telling us not to go for the things we want?

I don’t see Kylie in the role either, but I’m not going to ridicule her for trying.

And I think she’s lovely.

Agreed. I’d do her.

Actually, I’m more intrigued with the idea of Graham Norton as Sam.

Difference is, see Kylie in real life, when she’s not dressed upto the 9’s, in a video or a photoshoot. She’s admitted herself there’s a lot of photoshop work involved. Which I concur with. She aint nuttin special, trust the paul’s commentators eye.
Besides, you think wanting to do her means she would have added to LOTR? isn’t there enough to go on with Liv Tyler, Miranda Otto and Cate for Leonards sake??

I thought Cate Blanchett was perfection in that role. I cannot imagine anybody else fitting the role so well.

Well, it was the other way around for me. I was shocked when I saw Galadriel on screen. And I was shocked again, when I saw an interview with Cate Blanchett afterwards: It turned out that Blanchett is a very beautiful woman, just not when she’s dressed up as an elf (and one that is supposed to be stunningly beautiful) :frowning:
Probably it was Galadriel’s fake hair that somehow bothered me. Oh well.

Don’t forget Sarah McLeod. Yeah, I know, if I tried anything, Sam would kill me.

[Off-topic rambling]
I’m passing on the platinum series LOTR videos and waiting for the eventual release of the mithril edition, hopefully including audition tapes. Kylie Minogue’s Galadriel, Dominic Monaghan’s Frodo, Stuart Townsend’s Aragorn, and who knows what else? Uma Thurman as Eowyn? They did it for “The Godfather”, so who knows.[/Off-topic rambling]

Kylie might make a fine elf in some other movie, where they’re little pixie-like creatures. I would have thought “seeking Cate Blanchett types” would have been part of the casting call for Galadriel.

I somehow always pictured Nicole Kidman as Galadriel.

Could be interesting to see British comedian Graham Norton on the audition tapes as well. He went for the part of Sam… He mentioned it on Friday nights show(12/03) when Elijah Wood was a guest…

How could you forget her sterling appearence in Street Fighter ?

Didn’t Nick Cave think she was really sexy in real life?

You should be so lucky … lucky lucky lucky

Yeah, she’d work too, now that you mention it.

I recently saw Masuimi Max in person at a nightclub, and even though she had on full makeup and was dressed up to go clubbing, she didn’t look anywhere near as hot as she does on her website.

Yes, but have you seen Cate Blanchett in real life as well? If not, it’s not really fair to compare them, is it? I’m sure that a lot of women who are as Goddesses on the screen look all too human in real life.

Oh, and for the record, I would also, enthusiastically, do Miss Minogue.

The article was a hoot… the reason Kylie wasn’t cast as Galadriel was because she was too short! Of course! She’s such an accomplished actress, too, I’m sure Peter Jackson was beyond disappointed! She was too short for a part in a movie which played with perspective to such an extent that John Rhys-Davies, 6’1", played a DWARF. Oh wait.

But Dwarfs aren’t the smallest people in Middle-earth, and the sizes of the actors definitely played a part in casting. The men playing the principal hobbits are in the 5’6"-5’8" range. Elves, wizards and humans are taller. Gimli is actually played by two actors: a little person who was the right size in comparison to Aragorn and Legolas, and JRD, who was the right size in comparison to the hobbits. (Size doubles were used for other characters as well, but not to the same extent.)

Miss Kidman indeed looks like an elf lady; however, can you imagine any voice other than Cate Blanchett’s reading that monologue at the beginning? Mr. Pug and I have commented that she ought to do audio story books for children with that gorgeous speaking voice of hers.
