L. A. MTA strike: Do other bus companies have this union?

I recently filled out an application for a company in Vernon, CA, near downtown Los Angeles. Ostensibly this company is not affiliated with the union on strike against the Los Angeles area Metropolitan Transit Authority. All the same I want to make sure I wouldn’t be hired as a scab; I come from a union family and I want no part of scab activities.
Does anyone know if First Transit is represented by the same union striking the MTA?

The news stories have made it sound like our bus strike is our own problem. The other municipal bus services in the area – Foothill, Santa Monica, Culver City, etc. – are all running with no protest from the L.A. union. I’ve been following the whole mess fairly closely, since I live in L.A. and, because I loathe driving, ride the buses when there are any. (Since the strike will apparently never end, I’m getting my drivers’ license back, though :()

But to make sure, I’d imagine the best course would be to ask a representative of the L.A. bus drivers’ union if there’s any chance of your working in Vernon being interpreted as scabbery.

I had my interview at First Transit yesterday. No, the MTA union (UTU) is not connected with First Transit, whose union is the Teamsters. And the Teamsters’ Union is in fact supporting the MTA strikers.

Yes, the MTA bus strike is over, thanks in part to the intervention of Jesse Jackson. (I think they could use him in the Middle East!
As a sop to angry commuters the MTA is offering free rides to all patrons for five days, starting today; and for Metro Rail–Blue, Red, Green lines–four days, starting tomorrow.
So now it’s moot.

Oh yay! Nice to know there is a way high-school drop-outs can make an honest living and take home $48,600 a year driving around people who make $5.00 an hour.

Just thought I’d log on here and get my head bit off.
All right, smartie–if (this is hypothetical, you understand)–IF you have a better idea, let’s hear it! I am all ears.
