L.A. Singers -- Cheap voice lessons?

I sang in the high school chorus, and performed in the school musicals, and I recently realized two things:

  1. I miss singing.

  2. I’m not that good at it.

    I can carry a tune and have a good ear, bu I can’t read music and have no vibrato. So, I was hoping an L.A. Doper might recommend a group class or private teacher (or even volunteer themselves) who might help a baritone out. I don’t want to be a Broadway star, but I’d like to karaoke with confidence and serenade my reluctant lovers.

    The only condition is that it be CHEAP. Perhaps there is no such thing when it comes to private coaches. Then again, if there are any secrets or shortcuts, this board has people who know about them.

So – any ideas? Anybody brave enough to take me under their wing, for barter? Think of me as Anakin to your Obi-Wan. Or, maybe you’d better not…

I look forward to any assistance you can offer. Let’s try to keep the offerings to L.A. County. The Valley would be even better.
