Labour Day folks - That mean's it's time to clean the closet!

And now I don’t have Ginger of the North in town to take my stuff to use for quilting.

Perhaps I’ll just have lots of dust rags.

So, would anyone care to join me in my pre-winter closet overhaul?

So far I’m up to my armpits…

Funny thing, I spent the day cleaning out a closet here, too, even though it’s not Labor Day. But it wasn’t my closet, it was flodjunior’s. He is outgrowing everything!!!

Come to think of it, so am I, but rotate the direction of growth 90 degrees :stuck_out_tongue:

You know, the mail is a handy, handy thing. And honey, you’re not going to find anyone petite enough for your cast-offs. Howzabout the women’s shelter, or the Mustard Seed?

Ugh! Don’t remind me!

Ya Hoo, soon it will be Sweater Season, I can not wait.

Well, the closet is clean. Now I just don’t know what to do with this massive pile of stuff that used to be in it.

I think Ginger is right (as usual) - off to the Women’s Shelter I go.

Cleaning closets? Oh, dear - why didn’t you talk to me first??

No, no, no. Labour Day is for Labour Day Classics. CFL Football.

Specifically, Riders thump Bombers, 33-19 at Taylor Field, using a fourth-string quarterback in his first start in the CFL.

That’s how you spend Labour Day.

I heard there was some street disturbance at MacMahon Stadium as well. :stuck_out_tongue:

Spring cleaning made sense back when people heated their homes with coal. The soot would be everywhere by the end of the heating season, so when the warm weather came and coal use was cut back to the minimum needed for cooking, it was good to get all the soot off. But for most people today, fall housecleaning makes more sense, both because of the dust’n’leaves issues self-organizing entity mentions (and if you’re really self-organizing, can you come over to my house and see it it’s contagious…?) and because most of us spend more time indoors in the winter. Clean it now and enjoy it all winter!

I’m working with a modified version of the Holiday Grand Plan, which is a fall housecleaning and holiday preparation system mixed together. It’s nice to have some inspiration and camaraderie, although of course the good folks there just aren’t the same caliber as Dopers. This week, rather than fixing up the front porch as suggested, I’m cleaning flodjunior’s bedroom, which is why I had my head in his closet. Eight-year-olds are organic entropy machines, so I hope a week is enough

I’m also doing the Holiday Grand Plan (more or less)… but this week I’m doing the entry because a, I don’t have a front porch, and b, I won’t be able to do the entry during entry doing week…
But still, that’s the plan…

i am slowly clearing the closet. i figure this will only add to the numerous boxes already in the basement.
ginger of the north creates quilts?

What is this cleaning of which you speak??

My fall closet turn-over seems to have had no effect on the weather. :frowning: I want sweater season, too! Heck, I’d settle for shoes and long pants season at this point.
