I thought I might see you in here! I lurk quite regularly, but hardly ever post…
There’s VunderBob and one phantom wunderboy who shows up in the drop-down suggestions but apparently does not exist.
(I haven’t decided whether or not I anglicize my username in my head, so I’m not sure if I should be confused.)
Yes, Ataraxy, who uses the handle I use many other places on the net.
There was a MarchiveGuy once, but I had him summarily killed…
Holy crap! My name’s in a thread title?!
Actually, my screen name came from an old joke between me and another nerdy friend, based on my being a habitual worrier. Basically, my friend would sing the Disney song with these words as a reminder to me to take a break… And I didn’t observe before I registered that there was another poster here on SDMB with such a similar name.
I don’t think I’m your long-lost sister, though. Unless, of course, there are some rich elderly relatives in your family!
Hey at least it wasn’t a Pit Thread
I got my name from my daughter who was really into the Lion King. When I joined I was struggling for a name and that movie was playing and it fits my personality type. I am NOT a worrier and I liked the translation of Hakuna Matata roughly means ‘no worries’ and so I chose that.
Alas–no rich relatives. I was sort of hoping you might have some! I don’t post all that often as you can see, so I doubt many people will get us too mixed up. Welcome to the SDMB.
Hi there! Sorry about adding an extra “e” to your name.
Dang, I guess we’ll both have to work for our livings, eh? But thanks for the welcome, and for not welcoming me via the Pit!
i dunno - i’m very new here - if there’s another, then i’m the usurper!
Apparently you haven’t met LilyoftheValley.
Welcome! If you want to avoid confusion (or decide another screen name suits you better), you can petition a moderator for a name change. Was your inspiration the Bible verse, the literary work, or something else?
There was a commonsense, but I killed her.
I guess that would be biblical - I toil not and neither do I spin… ![]()
thanks for the welcome!
There was apparently a rather notorious troll back in 1999 or early 2000 named some variant of Ogre. He was even from Alabama. I was stalked by a couple of self-appointed troll-hunters for a while after he was banned. Other than that, I don’t think so.
In the early days of the board you could read the membership list, Then I guess it got too big and slow and they stopped making it available.
But now you can do a similar check with Advanced Search - Go to the window for Search by User Name and start entering. It will spin out a suggestion list, sort of like Wikipedia and Youtube do.
Enter Never and you find all these:

The only one that confuses me sometimes is Heffalump and Roo because I’m so used to looking for that Roo that I gloss over the first part and my eyes just focus on that R instead.
I’ve been confused with both Fenris and Ferrous before.
Is it weird that I sometimes confuse Skald and Sampiro? Partly it’s the S name, partly it’s the stories about family members with…ah, Issues, to put it lightly. I usually realize as soon as I start reading, but sometimes I glance at one and think of the other.
Well, there’s Wombat Trainer, WombatMan, WombatWoman, and a few others. If you could only see me, you’d know I was the best looking of the bunch, though.
I took my name from Melville’s short story “Bartleby the Scrivener,” which was probably the inspiration for Bartleby, too (ever hear of any other Bartlebys or Scriveners for that matter? I haven’t.) I shortened the name to be more concise for quoting/referencing purposes and for sexual neutrality (I’m female).
Then there’s the “[something] the [something]” names like Skald the Rhymer, and the “The [something]” names like The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Shrubber, etc. Typing “Scrivener” into the Search box yields scribble79, Scribbles, scribblin, Scribe, scribelen, Scriblerus, ScriboDeus, scriffy, scriggly, ScrieR, SCRIMMY, and ScriptAnalyst. As far as I can determine, no one’s come closer than these to my tag, and there certainly haven’t been any sound-alikes or impersonators, so I count myself lucky.
Or maybe I’m just too obnoxious to attract wanna-be’s… or that they don’t want to be thought of as living in 'Jersey.
