Ladies: How do you hook your bra?

Just for the hell of it, I tried the hook-in-back method. I could reach the hooks easily (long arms) but I couldn’t make them hook. I need practice.

I reach and hook from the back 99% of the time. I only hook from the front when I’m wearing a merry widow, which is once or twice a year that has many clasps. It hurts to twist it though.

I was raised by my dad and just always figured every single girl in the world just put her arms through and hooked in the back. I’ve been doing it this way since about 5th grade (I was an early bloomer) and have never had any problems at all. The only time I have had to clasp in the front is when I had a bra with hooks in the front (Which I found out later that day was way to small for me because as I was bending over the girls fell right out)… Never wore that one again.

But seriously, I had no idea about this ‘hook and twist’ thing until I moved in with my mom at age 19 and saw her putting on her bra one day. I was so. beyond. confused.

Seriously, how difficult is it to put your arms though, bend forward, and clasp from behind. I can even do it one handed some days! All this ‘see the hooks’ nonsense is just ridiculous and… just kinda childish to me >.<

Just my opinion >.>

Please note this thread is from 2005. And I cannot hook in behind because my shoulders will not allow it. Some of us are not as flexible as others, hinata1711; it’s not childishness. (More like the opposite, actually.)

What’s childish is thinking your way of doing something is the only right way of doing it.

Double mastectomy. I’m free
And I save a lot of money…

This thread was abandoned almost ten years ago and all of the original posters are long gone and perhaps dead. It’s a frivolous topic. Why resurrect it?

In this day and age, I’m always gobsmacked by the number of people that find an old discussion via google, don’t bother to check the age of the thread, but still go through the bother of signing up and replying. To a discussion that died a natural death almost a decade - practically a generation! - ago.

Welcome hinata1711. You can recover from this and you appear intelligent but know that reviving zombie threads does not usually go well.

I think this is still a timely thread but there again, I’m a guy.

Well the OP is still posting, for one. Are you offended by frivolous? Because we have a good bit of it around here…

Hook and twist. I’m too clumsy to do it otherwise.

Reach back and hook. I was told to be properly supportive, the band should be snug enough that it wouldn’t twist. Plus my underwires are so large I’d get stabbed in the underarms if I tried to twist from back to front.

I backwards hook it.

I’m pretty flexible, so it’s little issue for me.

I’ve never understood how people could fasten it and then squeeze into it. My “rack” is a bit large, so the idea of that is beyond me.

Me too! But I don’t put my arms in the straps first. I just let the weight of the puppies hold the bra in place while I reach back to hook it. After I had shoulder surgery, being able to hook my bra in back was my main goal in physical therapy. If it hadn’t been for that I probably wouldn’t be able to do a lot of things with that arm.
