Lady Disco The Grey

I am now Lady Disco The Grey, and not in a nice, LOTR kinda way. At the age of almost 27, I have an unreasonable amount of grey hair coming in  I know it happens to everyone and to everyone at different ages, but Jesus Christ on a pogo stick! I wasn’t expecting it just yet!

That brings me to my question to you: how old were you when you started to get grey hair? (or gray hair, if you prefer)

I had maybe three gray hairs by age twenty-five, and they stayed the same for the next fifteen years or so. Then they started to multiply.

My mom grayed early, but my father is 80 and doesn’t have much gray even now.

I got my first grey hair at 24. That is when I started getting my hair colored every few months. When I stopped getting my hair colored when I was 34, I was surprised how much grey was mixed in when my natural hair color grew back.

I haven’t had my hair colored for a few years now, but I can’t stand the way it looks anymore. My hair is a medium brown, but the grey makes it look so …dull. I still have much more brown than grey, but the grey is slowly taking over.

  1. Certain ladies loved it.

I miss the 80’s.

Well, that’s the reason I’m so surprised right now. After being dyed blonde for ~ 10 years, I decided to colour my hair a dark reddish brown. Since the roots weren’t as different as the coloured hair, I let it grow out a little longer between colourings - that’s how I noticed all the grey hair. I’ll definitely be having it coloured again this weekend. Or I could just get a hat. ;j

I was hoping that I’d be silver by 30, like my dad.

No such luck.

My first silver hair was at 2 - it’s in my baby book. But at 29, I’ve had nothing other than the occational one since. Oh, well - my mom is pretty much black and silver now, at 47, so I DO have silver to look forward to. Someday.
