I find Lady Gaga to be the worst piece of overproduced pop dreck pablum in an entire modern musical era of overproduced pop dreck pablum. She is ridiculous, tacky, unoriginal, and a fashion dump… beyond that she can’t sing. She’s about as sexy as a 80’s unitard, which is to say she’s not.
That’s it… I’m just gonna call her the Unitard, now… Kinda like the Unibomber.
She probably isn’t much older than that there.
I’ve been to that bar (The Bitter End on Bleecker) and she basically looks like the sort of act you would typically find there.
Few singers are talented enough to sing the harmonies, melodies and various effects at the same time.
Quite frankly I always assumed they lipsynched whenever they did a lot of dancing. Pink performs on a freakin trapeeze for Christ’s sake.

She should change her name to Tooletta. This morning I saw a goose that was more charismatic and infinitely more interesting than this chick.
Why so much hatred, she’s just an entertainer. And as an entertainer, she does a great job of holding your attention when she’s performing.
Exactly. And I don’t get the comments that she’s untalented- she writes, produces, and performs the hell out of not only her own songs, but big hits for other artists. Sure, she might not have a perfect pitch opera-ready voice or anything, but I don’t hear you guys bitching at Bob Dylan’s lack of singing perfection. She puts on a show to entertain her fans because she loves the idea of performance art- so what? I think the costumes and stuff are fun. And frankly, I love the fact that she never drops the act, it’s interesting and sort of reminds me of Prince and his whole over the top, assless pants wearing self.
You can criticize her for a lot, but the fact is that the girl has a good deal of raw talent. She can sit down and out play most musicians today on a piano and do it in a unique and artistic way. You might not have a fondness for how she chooses to portray that talent, but it’s still there.
I think it’s funny that so many here are so quick to judge because she’d blonde and has her ass cheeks hanging out while singing pop music. Just because that’s her particular brand of art doesn’t make it any less valid than someone sitting down and strumming a guitar.
Some people like the way she “entertains” and some people don’t. It’s a matter of opinion.
Not everybody is going to agree on everything. She clearly does not hold my attention. Who cares?
I do think she has a nice ass but that’s just not enough for me. Sorry.

Yes, she’s a brunette, but I think we can all agree that how she wears her hair now can certainly be classified as blonde, no? I mean, I don’t know what else you’d call that, but it’s certainly no longer brown.
And I’m not criticizing anyone for disliking how she performs- that’s perfectly fine. I’m just saying it’s about outrageous to try to argue the girl is talentless or to compare her to someone like Britney, who has to beg for song writing credits on her own songs (“But I added an extra moan, y’all!”).

On a related note I saw some more Lady Gaga stuff on Palladium, while her music isn’t my favorite, she does some really weird stuff that makes it pretty cool.
I just want to be clear that I take any opportunity at all – such as this one – to mention my utter and complete hatred for Bob Dylan’s singing voice, which I find to be utterly wretched and which makes me want to reach through the radio and wring his chicken neck every time I hear one of his songs.

It seemed more performance art than music. If she is supposed to be the next Madonna then she hasn’t hit her stride yet. Good stage presence but I was expecting it to be belted out a little more like a Lisa Dalbello songto go with the performance side of it.

I first heard of her when I heard of the song “Just Dance” which was in the UK top 20. I listened to it and bought it the same day. To this day it’s her best song.
I didn’t know about her “crazy fashion style” until later, and while it seems very theatrical, if the song is good, I don’t care what she’s wearing.
Sadly, none of her other songs (Poker face, Paparazzi, etc) come close to Just Dance, although they are decent for their genre.
That video of her at the Bitter End in 2006 is amazing: She looks totally different and her musical style is also totally different. Also, as a blonde she is a bit ugly, but in that video she looks quite decent. Having a few more pounds and being brunette seems to work for her.
I should note that I think what she is doing for pop music today is awesome (ignoring the fact that many people here have nothing but derision for pop music). No other artist in this genre today is exciting, everyone is just bland and nothing exciting is happening in pop music. We need artists like her to shake things up and get out of the rut we are in.
Pop music sort of stalled in the late eighties and other genres rushed to fill its place in the charts (hip hop, country, etc), but people love a good pop tune and this can be seen whenever a great one comes out.
I was so distracted by the rings of Saturn, too. The piano playing was good, the singing was good, but why did she not just start at the piano, and wearing something she could play in? I don’t get why she did 30 seconds of singing on a platform, then decided to move to the piano. At first I thought it was impromptu, but then I realized they wouldn’t have put the piano out there if it was impromptu. Then I thought, why the hell would she wear that and start out like it’s any other song if she wants to show she’s different?
