Ladybugs

Well, they’ve taken over our house. So I’ve had lots of time to study them. And I got to noticing…all ladybugs seem to be the same size. Why is that? What exactly IS the life cycle of a ladybug? What do they eat? There aren’t any aphids in my house. Why do they stink so badly sometimes? And lastly, what determines the number of spots? There’s 3 on my computer desk, one on my drink glass and one on my shoe, and they all have a different number of spots, but are basically the same same size. Any help here?

This site should answer most of your questions: http://www.uky.edu/Agriculture/Entomology/entfacts/fldcrops/ef105.htm

I would imagine that the number of spots is a genetic thing.

hugs thank you!

The ladybirds aren’t in your house because theres food in there, but rather because they found a nice warm place between your walls or under your floor boards to wait out the winter.

Unless you manage to shoo most of them 'em out pretty quick, later in the spring you’ll find your place crawling in the little blue/black larvae seen in that link. They stink pretty bad too (especially after you vaccume a bunch of 'em up, which chops them up on the fan blade and blows the smelly air out through the bag). Yik.
