Lakeshore Athletic Club dog walking service

For Chicago-area Dopers:

Does anyone have any feedback (good, bad or indifferent) concerning the dog walking/ dog care services at the Lakeshore Athletic Club on Fullerton? I’m particularly interested in:

  1. Quality of service;

  2. Hours of service - do they overlap with the club or is there a smaller timeframe during which they operate?

  3. Cost (including any discounts)

I’m planning to sign up at the club in a few months regardless, but I was curious about this service which sounds on paper like it could be useful.

Can’t you just call them and ask them (2) and (3)? :confused:

In my experience, health clubs and other “membership” organizations can be somewhat cagey about giving out price information without a face-to-face meeting. It is not unknown for competing clubs to have their employees pose as prospective members for the purpose of sniffing out pricing information about each other. As a result, you often have to go through the tour to get the info you want, or use the power of the Internet to connect with other customers.

Now, they do advertise human babysitting at the rate of $2/hr, minimum 2 hours. Interesting question would be - do they charge more or less for canine care? But the babysitting may be a loss leader to get kids into kiddie fitness classes, etc. The dog-sitting may be an actual revenue center.

Besides, the marginal added cost of providing price and hour information combined with information about quality of service is virtually nil, and may also help shed some light on any hidden charges that might not be in the basic price sheet.
