I’ve managed to snap off the little nub that sticks out at the top left of my keyboard – that turns off the LCD screen when it is closed.
The piece is a bit thicker than a mechanical pencil lead, and about a quarter-inch long. As it’s broken off, the part that’s still attached now sits recessed in the hole it came out of, and therefore doesn’t shut off the screen when it is closed. The piece is so tiny and the other end inaccessible to fingers, so I don’t know that I can manage to superglue it back on correctly.
That plate that the little piece pokes through is often easily removed with a little gentle prying along the left or right edge of that plate, you may be able to access the base of that part and reglue it. If you can give a make/model we might be able to lend more insight.
Ok, I managed to get that piece off. Looks like it’s going to be a bit awkward to do, but possible. Thanks for the tip. (any other links appreciated, of course…)
