I have a stereo laptop and the speakers work fine in it. However a few days ago my head phone jack started playing in mono. I tried differnt stereo headphones with no rusults. I switched out the headphone/mic card and still nothing but one side playing. I went through sound settings and still no help any ideals?
when you say mono, do you mean sound from only one speaker, or flat, non-stereo sound from both speakers?
Since the second would be pretty odd, I’ll assume it’s the first one. If you’ve eliminated the headphones as a problem, then you will need to look at the connections inside whatever houses the headphone jack. You might have to do a little soldering if it is a loose connection, but if you can get to it, it should be fixable.
Thought the same thing so I even went as far as to switch out the entire jack and board. Still no differnce. But thanks for the advice.
The next logical step would be to check the sound card drivers. Make sure you have the correct drivers handy. Uninstall the driver that’s running now. Reboot the machine. It might reinstall the driver on it’s own, prompt you to search on line, etc. Re-install the driver. That should take care of any corruption issues. Personally, I would do a cold rather than warm boot, but it probably won’t matter.
