Must say Apricot Syrup has a pretty obvious case of self-fulfilling prophecy. No-one sane and decent is going to get involved with him while he has an attitude like that; all that’s left to him is the money-grubbers who don’t care if you’re an asshole. QED.

I just want to add this: think a little more deeply about certain new Dopers who are making outrageous statements here. Think about the timing of when they first registered, and then compare that with the time that certain other “controversial” Dopers were banned. Think about it.
Re-read czarcasm’s post about reporting offensive posts in IMHO. We all need to heed his advice.

As you can see, I’m pretty new here myself. This is the first real nastiness I’ve stumbled on.
Do you think the best thing to do is report stuff to the moderators? Where’s the line to be drawn on what’s offensive? I don’t want to be petty and report everyone I just don’t like. And with boards this busy, the moderators must have their hands full. Czarcasm did say ‘use the link’ with specific reference to our boy, so I suppose I really did screw up here. Sorry. (Damn, it made me so CROSS!)
No, I think you did the right thing. (And welcome to the boards!)
I think Czarcasm coming on here and asking us to report offensive reports was specifically in response to what is going on. (And don’t think you’re the only one who has been reporting posts to the mods! 
)
In any case, it’s better to report a post to a mod than to freak out all over the thread in response to a perceived “inflammatory” post. I’ve even reported a post that ended up being a friendly bit of bullshit from one friend to another. (I couldn’t have known that at the time.) I certainly didn’t do it to be mean; I just wanted to nip any “trouble” in the bud. And I don’t regret doing it. Not that I report posts all that often, though. But there are times when your “horse sense” tells you that it’s the appropriate thing to do.
You know what? I think that there’s just really only ONE “troll”. For the whole internet. That’s why we only see them from time to time, and then they disappear…

I mean really, doesn’t it seem as if, no matter which board or community you’re in, the trolls seem to post in EXACTLY the same way?? And have PRECISELY the same odd “off” attitudes and mannerisms and speech (or type) patterns?
At any rate, welcome to the boards, and don’t feel bad, we ALL get “sucked in” by them.
I’m a horrible example. They intrigue me, so my natural “curiosity killed the cat” attitude kicks in and next thing I know, I’m conversing with the damn things!! I wouldn’t worry too much.
