I accidentally misread a thread title from “Largest City Park” to “Largest Car Park” and was disappointed to click and not find my answer. So what is the largest car park in the world?
The West Edmonston Mall in Edmonton, Canada.
Considered by many in the London area to be the M25 Orbital Motorway. It is 118 miles long.
Oh yes.
That West Edmonton Mall looks like it must have a parking garage of several levels. Anyone know a contender for the largest surface lot?
The pentegon in DC.
37 million square ft. 23k parking spaces.
They use it to stage Rolling Thunder. And probably every other big vehicular protest in DC.
Where do you get that number of parking spaces? The military website mentions 8,770 parking spaces and 23,000 employees.

I used this.
It’s apparent I need new glasses.
Wouldn’t one of the larger airports have more parking spaces than this?
The Minneapolis St Paul airport just added 11,200 spaces; I can’t find a total number, but they had thousands before that. And there are larger airports around the country.
These may not count, since they are usually in various parking lots or ramps scattered around the airport property. But then, the Edmonton Mall parking is multiple ramps.
Maybe we need the OP to clarify if he’s talking about a single surface parking lot, or parking ramps, or all the parking for a single facility.
I guess I want to know
a) maximum surface area devoted to parking spaces
b) maximum parking spaces withing a single contiguous building of multiple levels
c) facility which can accomodate the most cars
Atlanta airport has 31,000 spaces in total, apparently, but of course these are going to be split between various separate locations.
According to this article Heathrow has 35,000 parking spaces and an additional 11,700 off-airport spaces serving Heathrow.
Does anyone know how many parking spaces The Spectrum in Irvine, CA has? I read once that it had the largest parking lot in the world, but it was in a half-serious publication so I couldn’t tell if it was a joke or not.
I haven’t been there in probably ~4 years but I seem to recall shuttles going from the parking lot to the entrance.
Not even close. (Note: Link is a PDF file.)
I’m finding some random claims on the internet that Dallas-Fort Worth Airport now claims the largest parking lot, although this claim does not seem to be made on the website of Dallas-Forth Worth Airport, so take that as you may.
The Guinness records website seems to be mum on the issue. Anyone have a recent edition of the print version?
My guess was the carpark for one of the Disney parks, and it seems I’m not totally off. Not car park, but single parking structure:
This site claims the following:
Yet I can’t find any other mention of a bigger car park at Tokyo Disney Resort.
I did some looking but didn’t find any cites, however I’m guessing that many of the largest football stadiums, especially rural university stadiums, would be near the top of the list. Michigan, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Tennessee are among the places that accomodate 100K+ spectators and would need sufficient parking for them.
How about the lots at seaports that they use for imported car storage? The ones in Newark are immense. A not great photo.
For parking ramps, it’s probably Universal Studios outside of Orlando, Florida. Two connected multi-story garages/car parks/parkades/whatever, each with 10,500 spaces.
For surface parking lots, the biggies can be found at Disney, ports in Japan, football stadiums, major airports, and auto auctions in the United States.
Parking at West Edmonton Mall is split up among several parking ramps and surface lots.
