Las Vegas Headliner DANY GANS Has Died

Just on the news here, Dany Gans (age 52) died in his sleep at his home in Las Vegas this morning. No cause of death has been determined as of yet.

Probably not known to many who have never been to Las Vegas, he was the headliner act at Mirage after Siegfried and Roy’s show closed. He had only recently moved to the new Encore Hotel and opened a new show that got rave reviews, even from the somewhat cynical Las Vegas Weekly magazine.

Known as the “man of a 1000 voices”, he did some pretty amazing impersonations and was able to mimic actors, comedians and musicians.

Just found a link to the story.

52? Wow- he was very young. He was quite popular, as far as I know (we never saw him, but we rarely go to shows like his).

Sad. :frowning:

I always meant to see him during a visit, but couldn’t bring myself to pay $100 per ticket for a “headliner” that wasn’t known outside of the city.

Wow, I was just there…I didn’t see him or anything, but with the ads everywhere and all…crazy

Wow that’s terrible, he was a Vegas fixture.

He was also in the movie Bull Durham, played one of the guys on the team, kinda wierd to see him in a movie after seeing his ads all over Vegas taxicabs.

Y’know, I never saw him, or even heard a second of his act. But I saw his name on the Vegas marquees all the time. I’ll miss that about him…

Joe

Brief YouTube video of his act for the curious but lazy.

I’ve never seen his act, but I watched your link. That guy got paid for that? Jesus. No wonder foreigners want to kill us.

I saw him once and thought he was quite good at impressions. Much better than Rich Little. But he wasn’t all that funny.

He was funny (and a good sport) on an episode of Roseanne, where he played a Wayne Newton impersonator whose act was pseudo-heckled by the real Wayne Newton.

A terrible thing to die so young. :frowning: Good for him for finding a new niche in life, and such a successful one, after an injury ended his sports career.

No one had him I am sure ,but he was worth 48 points.
