My friend Chad and his friend Cory recently took a trip to Vegas. Cory is getting married soon and, while this trip wasn’t his proper bachelor party, it was his one last chance to hang out with a guy friend in such a way. Anyway, they’re on the strip and, of course, there’s workers everywhere handing out “promotional materials” for the various brothers outside of Vegas. But whenever Chad and Cory would get close to one of these people, they would, quite deliberately, turn around and withhold any materials from Chad and his friend.
This obviously makes no sense. Chad said these people would hand stuff to old ladies passing by, but not to him or Cory. When they asked one of the guys why they were being shunned, they just got a “no comprende” from the man. The only thing slightly unusual about this is that Chad uses a wheelchair, though I don’t see why that would exclude him (I figure these places must have accomodations of that sort) and that still doesn’t explain why Cory wouldn’t get anything. Anyone know what gives?
That is odd…I’ve been to Vegas several times and they’ll hand those things to anybody, including myself when I’m walking with my husband! (I raised a bit of a chuckle from a crowd of walkers last time out when they tried to hand one to first a guy two people ahead of me, then a woman in front of me, then didn’t try to hand me one. I loudly announced “What, I don’t look like I want some freaky sex by-the-hour?”) Luckily for your friend, most people toss them in the nearest trash bin (or hedge/flowerbed if they’re jerks) so if he’s dying to know what he’s missing he can always pick one up second hand.
The only possible thing I could come up with was since they were two guys maybe they were assumed to be gay? I’m sure even this wouldn’t have stopped them, since I’m sure they get paid by the piece or something.
i can say from personal experience that that isn’t it. i used to go to vegas all the time w/ my parents when i was a kid, and i used to get those handouts (i was 12-13 at the time and looked it).
I hate to say it but I think it is the wheelchair. I remember reading somewhere that the brothels have a secret code for the girls whenever a disabled or anyone else they consider ‘special’, i.e. elderly, obese, certain races, etc. that involved the buzzer. If they were taken by a cab driver to the place he would ring the buzzer a certain number of times indicating that the ‘banned category’ of person is entering. Then the girls wouldn’t come out in the lounge area.
The workers who hand out the brochures may have been instructed not to give them to certain people, much like the cab drivers uses their codes letting the girls know what was entering.
