Last Emperor/Expulsion from Forbidden City

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen the movie, but at one point, armed personnel enter the Forbidden City and expel the Last Emperor. Whose troops were these? Communists? Republicans? Japanese? Thanks.

The Wikipedia article on Pu Yi says that he was expelled from the Forbidden City by the forces of the warlord Feng Yuxiang. I’m not really familiar with this era of China, though, so hopefully someone will happen by who can confirm that this is the event depicted in the movie and/or provide more context for this.

According to Wiki…

“After being the home of 24 emperors—fourteen of the Ming Dynasty and ten of the Qing Dynasty—the Forbidden City ceased being the political center of China in 1912 with the abdication of Puyi, the last Emperor of China. Under an agreement with the new Republic of China government, Puyi remained in the Inner Court, while the Outer Court was given over to public use, until he was evicted after a coup in 1924.”

Thanks for the responses. From the Wiki articles, it’s not clear to me if Feng Yuxiang was acting on his own or at the behest of the Republicans.

Also, in 1900, after the Boxer Rebellion, British, American, French, German, and Japanese troops entered the Forbidden City after the Emperor and Empress Dowager had fled.

And he was a gardener, if I recall correctly.

When Japanese took over Manchuria, Puiyi was roped in by them as their puppet emperor, if I recall correctly though.

ETA: The troops should be revolutionist

Even though Dr. Sun managed to overthrow the Qing dynasty, there was a lot of internal strife later on between the warlords. President Sun was without an army, and one of his partner eventually become the next emperor of China (His name eludes me).
