Last.fm?

Hi all,
First time poster, long-time lurker…

I was on last.fm for the first time in ages looking up indie/local artists and discovered that tracks can now only be played if they are available via Spotify or YouTube… And that it’s been this way for a long time. Is this absolutely true?

Not looking to Scrobble what I’m already listening to, but rather stream more obscure songs that were once Scrobbled on the service.

I already have Spotify, and to my understanding there is no way to get back the “old” last.fm (I’ve tried going through archive.org, for example). I also can’t get Pandora in my country.

I’ve also checked out some weird – mostly foreign – sites that create playlists from last.fm artist tracklists, but when you go to listen, the sound is from YouTube videos.

Any hints/suggestions? Not looking to do anything illegal. Thx.
