Just wondering since you did renew me is do I still have ‘33’ as my join number? How would I check that? I have forgotten.

Is this just for Charter reinstatement, or does this also extend our subscription? I lost my charter membership a couple of years ago due to not seeing/getting the “your membership is due” notification. My current regular membership expires in a few days. Do I need to pay $30 to be a charter again and another $30 for the coming year? (I just paid for the Charter reinstatement)

You need pay nothing else unless you just want to give us some money (see “Friend of Cecil” donation device).

No, there is too much. Let me sum up.
We use PayPal the company to process payments for The Straight Dope Message Board. Yes, we have an actual PayPal account, like we’re selling you stuff. Because we are.
However, that payment mechanism is not accessed through your personal PayPal account. It is found in the Straight Dope “Paid Subscriptions” area of the User Control Panel.
Click on “UserCP” in the blue band at the top of every SDMB page. Then look down the left hand column and select “Paid Subscriptions.” You will then see a page of subscription options.
Select the option you want. Ever category has a drop down menu. Make your selection and click on the “Order” Button.
You will be presented with a portal page to pay for your selection. Your options are as follows:
You can pay using your personal PayPal account. That’s what PayPal would prefer and that’s why the “Use your PayPal account” option is so big. You may use your personal PayPal account to pay for your transaction and that’s fine. Follow those prompts and process your payment.
HOWEVER, you may also use most debit and credit cards. There’s a hyperlink for that on the same page. Follow those prompts instead if you wish. You will be asked for your cardholder information.
We have no physical presence on ebay. If I could figure out a way to make that something people would click on, I surely would be flogging TSD there. But I doubt we’d get much business.
We don’t have a page on the PayPal site. You do your business with us right here at home.

I just resubscribed. I lost mine when I was, uh, between opportunities, and wasn’t getting my email notices. At least, I assume I would have gotten email renewal notices.
Once upon a thread, I was seeing others complain about losing their Charter Membership, and thinking smugly to myself that mine was fine. Hmm, I thought, I should check my renewal date, just to be sure. CRAP! And I lived depressedly ever after… Until now!
I just so lucky that I opened the Boards today, just to peruse during lunch, and the main page Happened to have a posting in this “Lost your Charter Membership? Here’s how to get it back” thread. If this thread had been bumped, I never would have known. That’s the only problem here - threads that I would want to post within just don’t jump up and smack me upside the head! :smack:
Since the hour draws neigh ( nigh? ), perhaps this thread could be made a Sticky at the top of every forum until after the window closes?
That way, people who perhaps don’t frequent THIS Forum couldn’t say they didn’t know… ?
