Last Man on Earth - season 3

I don’t blame them for moving. I’m not knowledgeable enough to know if it’s safe, so I wouldn’t take a chance. I know it’s SUPPOSED to be safe, but you wouldn’t know what happened when the virus hit, if standards were met right up until the last person dropped dead. So how would you check? Would you really want to rely solely on the geiger counter without someone of even Homer Simpson’s level of nuclear energy?

It makes me sad because I liked their little set up, but a show like this, however long it continues, is not going to make them safe and content for long. The only real consistency in their lives is Tandy being a doofus… which is getting a little old. It’s like he’s getting worse the longer he’s around people.

So we finally got to see Pamela again. For awhile I was thinking it would turn out to be her driving the ice-cream truck. I wonder what skill a wealthy socialite like her could bring to a group of people who have to flee on a luxury yacht.

Good point; although it does look like something went very wrong near San Diego. Or the Geiger counter is broken. The gang at sea should be interesting, though I doubt the show will have the budget to do that for long. Even Fear the Walking Dead only managed a half-season arc.

Good point about Pamela. She could end up being their savior in more ways than one.

Regarding the Geiger counter; I’m unsure about the geography but could winds have carried smoke and dust from the burning plant to there? Maybe it was carried by high altitude wind and then deposited in that area by recent rains.

Variety is reporting that the show was renewed.

Good news!

It may not have been a meltdown per se, but since the US has never found a satisfactory solution to storing used nuclear fuel rods they are stored on-site in pools of water. Once the machinery to keep them full breaks down, my understanding is that they are hot enough to create a nice radioactive fire and fallout cloud on their own. ISTM this being a prediction in one if those “life after mankind” shows a few years ago.

That makes sense, and it fits with the idea of having to avoid being near all nuclear plants.

Wonderful.

Not that they could make it there, but Australia would a pretty good place to live. Unless of course the local spiders were immune to the virus and have since become the dominant animal lifeform. Maybe New Zealand would be a better choice. I don’t think Hawai’i has any nuclear reactors either, though there could still be nuclear powered USN ships & submarines at the docks. Ditto for San Diego.

Generally speaking US Navy ships would be far safer than civilian plants. But reaching Hawaii or New Zealand for these folks would be very unlikely. They aren’t the most competant bunch.

I love the idea of them going to NZ though and reaching the Shire (set) and living in the Hobbit Holes.
