Last Man on Earth (tv series)

All the jokes were soooo easy and predictable, but I laughed anyway. I didn’t want to, but I did. The toilet pool and D jokes had me rolling.

I think the promos telegraphed what happened next week (BTW, it’s back-to-back new episodes, starting at 9:00):

It looks like what happens is, just as Phil and Melissa are about to have sex, a car shows up; Phil thinks it’s Carol, but from Phil’s reaction in the next shot, it’s probably another man, resulting in Melissa thinking, “I’ll get pregnant with him while you get your wife pregnant - human race saved!”

Last night was the first episode that I’ve managed to catch. I didn’t much care for it. I think my problem is mainly that I don’t see why anyone would prefer January Jones over Kristin Schall? I’m thinking the guy dodged a bullet hooking up with Carol before Melissa came on the scene. Maybe I’ve watched too much Mad Men.

“You should have put your address on the signs. I’ve been here two weeks.”
“Two weeks??”
“Phil? The door symbolizes our marriage.”
“I know!”

Probably… I’m questioning your eyesight right now ;).

Yeah, I thought so too for a second. That would have fit the show better than what we saw, although of course we don’t really know where any of this is going.

This was my least favorite episode by far.

Bored Phil is funny.
Exasperated Phil is funny.
Creeper Phil is not funny… just creepy.

I didn’t find it funny,just stupid.
I can suspend belief, love “Dies the Fire” and “Nantucket Trilogy” (Damn you SpaceBats!)
But the water/gasoline/other animals problem just – well,I can’t watch it.

That, and because Kristin is also playing a complete weirdo no one would want to be stuck with.

Love her though.

I agree. Do not like creepy Phil.

I got some good laughs, especially at the end of the second episode, with the surprise that followed the accident.

Seriously: it’s not to be taken seriously. It’s more like a fantasy, only one that goes awry.

I’m looking forward to the third episode!

Well, my prediction that they would stop having new people show up was entirely wrong. That said, this was an entertaining hour of television… with the hilarious argument about their children having to have sex with each other and Phil’s comical sex setup with the prerecorded orgasm message. Then the double-fakeout with Todd, Phil’s Shawshank BS, etc.

They keep skating right to the edge of “ok, I am SO sick of Phil being a horny asshole” but have mostly managed to pull back from going over the line, and have continuously introduced entertaining new elements to the show.

Phil has crossed over from funny to just being a dick.

This. If it doesn’t get past “Phil trying to get into Melissa’s pants” perty durn soon, I’m out.

Yep. Plus the whole diarrhea vomit fascination.

But if you think about it, he’s a somewhat understandable dick. Two years go by, he has no human contact. Then the first woman makes him get married before they can have sex, which is a barrier to the hot woman who shows up to town right afterwards. I mean, I can totally see it.

The show is best when Phil and Carol interact and have stuff to do…so right now the show peaked at episode 2.

Creepy Phil isn’t funny.

I can sympathize with his situation, not the way he’s handling it. He’s over the top jerk, not over the top funny.

Now, what were we talking about?

“The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door…”
