Late night phone call... odd.

Ardred sells digital cable, broadband internet and local telephone service door to door.

Last night just before 11, Ardred and I were lying in bed…um… “talking” when his work cell rang.

He looked at the caller ID. It was one of his customers.

11 p.m.

He didn’t answer. He later checks his voicemail and hears:

“This is soandso at suchandsuch address. The cable box you dropped off doesn’t work. We’ll be awake until 1 o’clock awaiting your call.”

Who calls at 11 on a friday night and expects the salesperson to call back that night? He actually does have a life outside selling you cable.

Turns out, the address had been hooked up, but not actually spliced into the system due to a rainstorm. Why did Ardred receive this address to solicit? Well his boss is a bit of a moron, but that’s a pit thread for another day.

mundane, pointless thing, yes.

Well, that’s mighty rude of the customer!
Who the bloody hell expects such a service to be open that late?
I wouldn’t expect to get an answer from any business type place later than 5pm.
I mean, Wal-Mart, yeah, but cable?

What the heck was coming on that was so freakin’ important anyhow?
Can’t miss that “Girls Gone Wild” pay-per-view, huh? :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess they called customer service who are there all the time, and they were like “Ardred? Never heard of 'im, you must be stealing cable”. This is an odd conclusion to come to, yes. There are several dozen customer service people and it’s very important that Ardred never call customer service for installations, because then they have to pay both people for the sale. So, he wouldn’t have met the CS people, and they didn’t even have a list of names of door to door people (there are only eight of them) to reference. Understandably irate at the accusation of stealing, the customer called his cell.

Still, to expect him to call them back that night? Absurd.

I’d probably call. I get pissed off at the cable company because they rarely deliver the service on time and when it does start working there’s probably something wrong with the order. Companies like that get to see Nasty Bongmaster in action.
