Lateral Thinking Puzzles - third time is best!

Yep, OK.

Did Igor run a scam of some sort?

Are viruses or malware involved?

Embeded in quote.

Did Igor stand to gain money from his trolling?

Did his trolling serve to prevent him from losing money?

Did the trolling serve to manipulate the price of something?

Did he have any other, non-financial, motives for trolling?

Yep, there are the answers.

Igor is being spoken of in the past tense. So to be clear, is Igor no longer active as a troll?
If he’s no longer active, is he known to be alive and retired by his own choice?
Alive but has been forced in some way to retire?
Known to be dead?
Is Igor’s real-life identity known?

Igor was just picked as a name since it sounds like a Troll to me.

Is this a troll in the sense of someone who posts with the intention of annoying others?

Was it some other use of ‘troll’ ?

  • something related to fishing?
  • did he portray the mythical humanoid? Maybe in some gaming community?

I get that. My question was just from the point of view that he might be known only as an online persona with a user name that doesn’t identify him in real life.

And in that spirit, was his real identity known from the beginning of his trolling career?
Was some kind of investigation involved in making him stop?

Yep, that’s it for now.

Word-count.

Is/was Igor a political figure?
Is Igor in prison?

Was Igor known primarily for his trolling or was he a known figure outside of trolling activity.

You noted that Igor committed a crime, was he convicted of that crime? Did he go to jail?

Is Igor Bill O’Reilly?

NO, but he kind of fits.

Was the crime the trolling itself, in some sense?

Was the trolling intended to in some way shield him from the consequences of his crime?

This is a news story like many of our lateral puzzles. A very interesting and unique situation. Maybe try thinking about odd situations to troll in or why someone typically trolls or is incredibly rude to people or is extremely jerkish.

Did the crime involve taking people’s money? Violence? Tax evasion?

Did the trolling provide evidence of the crimes?

How long was this troll active? 1 week? 1 month? 1 year? Multiple years?

Yep, answered.

Was the crime related to stocks? Fraud? Was he selling something? Did he encourage people to send him money?

The nature of the trolling, was he attacking individual people or institutions? Did he have a particular subject that was the focus of the trolling?
