Latest SD on Flesh Eating Disease

Recently a coworker of mine said she had to go to her uncle’s funeral as he died of Flesh Eating Disease (I don’t know the real name for it)

When a bunch of us got talking I found six other people I work with have relatives that have it.

They have indicated some have had to have amputations but it hasn’t helped etc.

What is up with this? Are they mistaken? I haven’t heard much about it in years.

Also all six people are African Americans and the people they know that have it are as well. They all are from Chicago’s south side and all older man (over 50).

You think this would be in the news. Or is this disease now more commonplace.

The flesh eating disease is called Necrotizing Fasciitis (nec fac for short)

a quick google search came up with this, and there was a lot more out there

I was always under the impression that Necrotising Fasciitis was the name for the condition rather than the disease itself, like jaundice is a name for a condition caused by failure of liver function rather than the causative agent.
