I remember a couple of short stories published in Playboy when I was a kid. They featured a film noire sort of private eye who was a five-way clone. He (they) ran the Five Aces Detective Agency.

In the text, the various clones had superscripts. I(1) questioned the witness while I(2,4) was looking for prints, in a few minutes, I(3) found the gun, I(5) ran over from the bathroom.

Any idea who wrote it and if such stories are available?
