Law and Order premier tonight!

They moved it to Friday? Okay, glad I stumbled across that little fact. I believe Dennis Farina is gone, and Jack’s getting a new assistant DA.

Stay tuned!

Yeah, I noticed Farina’s not in any of the ads, but I checked the website and he’s still listed under “bios.”

I am filled with dread. I loved Dennis Farina, and I liked Anna Parise (spelling way off I’m sure) as ADA Borgia. Now they’re gone, and we get the sparest of the spares from Dicky Wolf’s failed attempt at melo-drama Conviction, Milena Govich. She was horrid in that show, and I expect nothing more tonight. And I don’t know anything about the person replacing Borgia, but she looks like a spare, so I’ve pre-emtively written her off. :stuck_out_tongue:

And of course, we have the Friday Night Death Spot, so all in all the situation looks a little grim. I’ll still be tuning in though until the bitter end.

Eww, she was awful in that show. I didn’t like her or her character. Yuck!

It’s looking bad for King Dick Wolf the First. Not only does the flagship show earn a trip to the Friday Night Death Slot, but Criminal Intent has been shifted to Tuesdays, presumably in the hope that it will absorb some reflected popularity rays from the only one of the three shows that is fairly healthy, SVU.

Is this the one that’s supposed to be based on Britney Spear’s mishaps with little SPF?

I knew the junior cop was going to be a woman, but wasn’t Jack supposed to get a make ADA?

It’s kind of strange that the season premiere was on its usual Sunday night, but now they’re moving it to Tuesday next week.

At any rate, I thought CI (with Chris Noth) was actually the best of the three shows last season (please don’t flame me :)) for the first time ever. The original suffered with Farina, IMHO, and SVU just had way too many wild plot twists.

Now that Noth is apparently gone from CI, who knows what will happen.

Well, at least it wasn’t sa bad as the ER season premiere. It was just boring and obvious. It was nice to see Rory Gilmore’s naked guy working again, though.

By the way, what did anyone else think about

the sealed envelope Jack receives? Possibly incriminating pictures of him and Claire Kinkade, perhaps?

How would any pictures of him with Claire be incriminating? She’s long dead; during her lifetime he was known to have affairs with his subordinates; the fact that he was intimate with Claire was exposed publically years ago (I believe during a Homicide crossover; neither of them was married so there was no real scandal to be had anywhistle; and he’s had two bosses since then who surely knew about his proclivities and felt they didn’t rise to the level of a punishable offense.

It was pretty clear the pictures were meant to be of his daughter. What I wondered about was the fact that the the director went out of his way to show McCoy putting putting the pictures atop his bottle of scotch in his desk. It seemed like something that is setting the stage for a Jack-the-alcoholic storyline.

Um, I put that in a spoiler box for a reason, but since you asked-what’s wrong with Jack’s daughter?

But you forgot that I’m STUPID!

:smack:

I’ll box it:

Early in the “Order” half of the episode, a gossip columnist wrote about Jack’s handling of the case and opined that Jack was being hypocritical for taking Britney-Prime to task for poor mothering, given that he hasn’t spoken to his only daughter for 9 years. Later the paparazzo Jack was leaning on for evidence offered him pictures of his daughter, taken surreptitiously at her home in Maine, to Jack in exchange for leniency. Jack, for some odd reason, did not punch the guy in the face, though he was clearly thinking about it.

I like CI the best, too. I don’t think Noth is gone - it’s Annabella Sciorra who’s gone. I don’t know why, though. Jamey Sheridan’s character resigned over that scandal (can’t remember exactly what it was, some hiring thing, I think), and Noth is getting a new partner. I hope they explain where Sciorra went.

Back to L&O: Original: What happened to Fontana? I know what happened to Borgia, but did Fontana retire because of that? I didn’t know he was gone - I liked him.

I find it interesting that all the ADA’s coming through the New York criminal system are all young, hot, single women.

Is it in Waterston’s contract that he get a chick to ogle in the other role? C’mon, 5 hotties in a row? You don’t think maybe a lawyer or two would notice something amiss in hiring practices???

It’s not like anyone has ever cared about sexual tension between the ADA’s. That has never been the focus of the show.

Hmmm, well I think after watching this episode that the flagship L&O is really showing its age. I thought the writing was poor and patchy. And this is one of those shows that is really driven more by the writing than the acting.

Thoughts:

I liked the interactions between the Lieutentant and the new “green” detective. Which is funny/punny because her partner is also Green–Ed Green!!

Why did they feel it necessary to have someone point out that the ADA is “Latina”?

Anytime L&O starts delving into the personal lives of it’s characters you know the writers are reaching for ideas. That being said I’m dying to know more about McCoy’s daughter!!!

If you’ve watched the original L&O for long, you know that McCoy’s drinking is not a secret…how many times have we seen the show end with just him and a glass of whiskey? So the
Was it just me or was faux-Britney’s voice heavily dubbed? Did that actress have an accent or something? The mouth and the voice weren’t synched up right.

Seemed like they just tried to cram too much into one episode. Freedom of the press, celeb mothers, paparazzi, sleazy internet tabloid reporters, loser hangers-on husbands…PLUS, new cast members and McCoy’s daughter!..my head was spinning!!!

Fontana retired, but I don’t think they gave an explanation. Maybe Farina didn’t want to do the show anymore?

I don’t like the show’s direction to “sexing it up” by hiring hot female actresses. Part of the show’s charm was the crusty male detectives, and I don’t like that they’re getting away with that.

What was up with Cassidy as Beauty Salon Cop? What, she was getting her nails done and happened to stop a robbery?
