Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC just reported Trump threatened the Pres. Of Mexico with U.S. troops

He’s reporting that Trump, on the phone with President Peña Nieto, threatened to march troops into Mexico.

Yes, it seems he said that, but the Mexican government is denying it.

According to the official transcript, Trump said:

However, according to the Mexican Foreign Relations Department:

Here’s an AP article. AP claims they have a transcript of he conversation. They also say that Mexico denies the threat.

If it’s fake, someone did a good job imitating Trump’s speaking style.

I saw that too and I’m assuming it’s fake. It’s just…too outrageous not to be. Even for him. God, things are bad when you’re actually hoping something you see is fake news and not real.

Edit: Well this one looks a bit more legit sadly. He had an argument with the Australian PM.

Trump abruptly ended the call because he was unhappy*

They’ll welcome us with open arms, as liberators.

This assclown is badly in need of impeachment.

As to the Australian story, Trump tweeted this at 2:55pm on 2 Feb:

Link to tweet.

So, yeah, I believe both.

I don’t see the problem here. He’s only sending them in to take care of the Bad Hombres. Who could possibly object to that. Don’t you understand? These are Bad Hombres. They have, like, black hats, bandoleers, bad teeth, those evil moustaches and smoke cigars. They are Bad. Hombres.

What are you, some kind of Bad Hombre lover?

Band name! Bad Hombres

I think I know some guys who could take care of this for us…

And we’ll use their oil revenues to pay for the invasion.

“May you live in interesting times.”

As I wrote in the other thread about this, no, they didn’t. That DOESN’T sound like Trump.

Trump’s speech is very distinctive as opposed to other politicians, and is marked by a number of very predictable habits;

 1. Repetition. Trump repeats himself and repeats words.
 2. Lack of filler words; Trump almost never uses filler sounds like “um.” (The repetition is a habit people use to avoid this.)
 3. Frequent use of superlatives and adjectives.
 4. Sudden abandonment of a sentence to start another.
 5. Reference to himself. The word he uses most often in conversation is “I,” which is not that unusual but he’s more extreme about it than most people. He uses the word “Trump” an astonishing amount too; people actually rarely use their own name in speech, but not him.

While the alleged quote is a short snippet, it has none of the typical characteristics of Trump speech except for not having filler sounds. Here’s an actual Trump quote:
Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, okay, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, okay, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune.
Nobody else I can think of who is a major political figure speaks like this. You see repetition at least three times, yet not a single filler sound, which is kind of amazing for unrehearsed speech. Many superlatives (“great,” “very good genes,” “smartest”) and adjectives, and abandonment not only of his initial point, but the point after that, to talk about himself.

‘Too outrageous to be real’ is no longer a phrase that has any relevance.

And they got no stinkin’ badges.

so true!

:dubious::dubious: He didnt say he (Trump) would send them (our soldiers) over the edge??

:D:D

I guess so many people dont know what’s good for them…guess its always been that way…:p:p

So CNN at least is reporting that what was said was different. At least from the transcripts they have.

Fwiw, Mexico is denying the threat referred to above while Australia is just saying no comment. So I guessing this quote is probably more accurate. Though I’m wondering why two different news companies got two different quotes?
