It’s not just THIS thread. I’ve seen mods do this on numerous occasions.
Mod pre-emptively closes a thread because they’re convinced it will turn into a train wreck. Well, how about you give it a chance before doing that?
Yeah, those lazy mods. Slash their salaries! Cut their benefits! Because we all want to see a trainwreck and they won’t let us.

I respect the women on this board who raise issues about how women are treated here, even when I may not agree with some of the finer points. I don’t respect people who want to call all the men here misogynists or devolve into misandry. No group is a monolithic block of like thinkers.

I guess a non-lazy way of modding that thread would be to leave it open but instruct everyone to not reply. Then it would need constant modding.
