This is purely hypothetical, so far. Almost all my legal knowledge comes from old Perry Mason and L.A. Law reruns.
I have heard that a prosecuting attorney in a criminal case will prepare a witness for his testimony. Would any of the Great Legal Minds of the SDMB care to describe the process?
Suppose you are the main complaining witness. What would the attorney tell you on how to dress, how to testify, how to react to the defense’s questions, etc.?
Do you tell them not to cry? I heard that one should not be a smarty-pants, so I guess I would be a bad witness.
Does the defense really try to get you flustered? Should you talk to the jury, or the judge, or the attorney?
Inquiring minds want to know. TIA.
