How will they break our hearts this year?

I’m an anti-Leaf bigot, so I’m a mess over this. I can’t tell whether to weep or vomit.
It’s so weird to see Toronto reacting to making the playoffs as if they won something. In most hockey cities, making the playoffs is a rudimentary expectation, not an occasion for celebration. After all, more than half the teams make the playoffs every year. But this year clinching a playoff spot (which has been a near-certainty for weeks; they could have lost last night and lost every game they had left and they would still have very likely been in the playoffs) is treated like they won the Stanley Cup.
Of course, prior to 2005, the Leafs, like most teams, made the playoffs more often than not, so this may be a one off thing.
