Leather repair

Our fairly new leather couch has a weird lesion. There is a small (5 x 15 mm) area where the smooth outer “skin” of the leather is missing, and the suede-like substrate is visible, creating an visible difference in color and smoothness. Is there any way to repair this, perhaps so substance that can imitate the original smooth part?

Treat it as a deep scruff. Leather conditioner (for vegetable-tanned leather) or boot oil for oil-tanned. Once dried, polish the whole thing with neutral-colored wax.
