And they’re also looking at where her wins were, by what margin, where her appeal is, etc. etc. At this point, debate is just spinning into a deluge of “my guy is better than yours, and I can show it!” Everyone’s going in circles and throwing out every number that they can come up with to show support for their candidate.
But really, it’s March. It doesn’t matter at this point. This is going to the convention, that much is clear. What do the next 5 months hold? More wheel spinning. More “my guy is better because of this,” trumped by “oh, but my guy has this and this,” followed by “well, mathematically, we can twist these numbers to look like this OR this.”
So, forgive me for stepping away from the trite rehashing of it all for the time being. I know where I stand and, honestly, that’s all I care about right now. My mind is made up, barring some crazy Dean-scream, and the majority of people arguing these points have theirs made up, too. We’ll talk turkey in August when the dogs come out to fight.
Interesting. In all these threads in all these weeks, I haven’t seen one single post from you explaining why your candidate is, in fact, the better choice. Just a bunch of flailing and ranting against Obama and his supporters. I’ve even just given you a blank slate on which to post your candidate’s accomplishments right here, but now I see you’re planning on running away with your tail between your legs. Too bad. It might have been interesting to see how you would respond.
:dubious: You’re under the mistaken impression that I’m under some obligation to answer your questions, when in fact, I’m not. You know what, though? Neither were any of the Obama supporters who chose to respond so feverently in support of their candidate.
It’s not my job to persuade anyone why my candidate is, in fact, the better choice. The decision to support a candidate is a single voter’s, alone, and is best left up to their own educated research. I did mine, and I came up with my decision.
Most of my dislike for Obama’s supporters is that they’re pretty rabid in their conquest to paint Hillary as the axis of evil and put their guy in the White House. It’s his job to present his ideas, and he’s done so on his website. I found it lacking.
Your attempt to appeal to my similar rabidness is falling on deaf ears, though. I honestly don’t care about the back and forth mudslinging popular in the dozens of threads on this board; i pick my candidate based on their ideals, and how successful I think they’ll be in accomplishing their goals in the next four years. Ergo, I’m not as voracious as those who will pop up every five seconds to throw in something in defense of their candidate. Perhaps one of the other Hillary supporters on the board will fill in your blank slate with their own personal reasons. Or better yet, if you want a list of Hillary’s accomplishments, you can research them yourself. I can’t think of any good reason to do it for you, because the only reason you would want them is either to a) actually consider them in determining your choice for candidate (unlikely, as it’s clear your mind is already made up), or b) to attack each and every one of them and turn the whole line of discussion into yet another pissing match.
Mine, though, are my own, and much like no Obama supporter was ever taunted into answering my questions, neither am I. I’ll just run off now and play with my tail.
Well you are in the Great Debates forum, afterall, so please forgive me for expecting you to back up your assertions with actual, you know, content. If you’re not willing to state your case and make an argument in favor of it, might I suggest MPSIMS for you?
I did, and she’s done little more significant than naming post offices. This is the entire list of all the Legislation she’s introduced that has made its way into Public Law:
In the 107th Congress [ul][li]S.584 : A bill to designate the United States courthouse located at 40 Centre Street in New York, New York, as the “Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse”.[/li][li]S.1422 : A bill to provide for the expedited payment of certain benefits for a public safety officer who was killed or suffered a catastrophic injury as a direct and proximate result of a personal injury sustained in the line of duty in connection with the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.[/li][li]S.1622 : A bill to extend the period of availability of unemployment assistance under the Robert T. ALL of it. [/li][quote=atomicbadgerrace]
I can’t think of any good reason to do it for you, because the only reason you would want them is either to a) actually consider them in determining your choice for candidate (unlikely, as it’s clear your mind is already made up), or b) to attack each and every one of them and turn the whole line of discussion into yet another pissing match.

There’s nothing to attack, as there’s nothing there!
Again; Great Debates. Given that you refuse to do so, I think it is appropriate that you run off to play elsewhere.
Well it wouldn’t be stuck in committee if Obama went to pass it!
Joking, joking, I kid, I kid! Stop throwing tomatoes, lettuce and other consumables.
Little humor is what we need in this primary season!
Technically, yes. But only because the the House version, HR 1216, was adopted. Arguably, the IDEA Senator Clinton proposed in the Senate was one that became law, even if from a parliamentary standpoint her specific bill died in committee.
Sorry, the official Senate website I linked to doesn’t list bills that died in committee but really truly should be credited to somebody because they thought of it first.
She must have–that’s why that damn phone keeps ringing!
In all seriousness, I’ve been following all the various campaign threads for a while, and I’d like to formally extend my appreciation to Shayna, who doesn’t let her fierce advocacy for Obama interfere with her ability to do a lot of legwork and homework, backing up her opinions with a ton of facts, convincing arguments and links, and an all-purpose due-diligence. It’s all very much appreciated!
Aren’t superdelegates obligated to chose the candidate they feel has the best chance of winning, and can’t they change at any time? Then if its generally agreed that HRC has a better chance in states such as Ohio than Obama, and both are a wash in the big Dem states, how could one in good conscience not change to HRC? The will of the people thing is pointless as the people are fickle, and their will on primary day might not be their will three months later.
I’ve seen this misconception a lot. It seems logical, but when you really think about it, it’s not true. What it comes down to is this:
Assuming the primary is highly correlated to the general elction, Clinton will do better in Ohio versus her national vote than Obama will do in Ohio versus his national vote. So if Obama can do better than Clinton nationwide, he could possibly do better than her in Ohio. Current polling suggests that Obama would do better nationwide in the general than Hillary.
I’m just responding to some of the posts in here, dear. I didn’t come in here to pick a fight, and I’m certainly not in here to do anyone’s research work for them. I think you’ll find that hardly any of the posts in these dozens of election related threads are of a debating nature. Like I said, most of them are pissing matches and “mine’s better than yours” “no mine is.” I would’ve posted my contention that Obama is smoke and mirrors in IMHO, but you know what? It would’ve been moved here, anyway.
Uh… as I already made pretty clear, I won’t be participating much in these “debates” until something substantial happens with the situation,
In the mean time, I’ll pop my head in whenever there’s something worth replying to. Feel free to skim over my posts entirely if you believe I have nothing worthwhile to contribute.
So why do the media seem to be buying into Hillary’s spin that the election is all about Pennsylvania now? (Really? Are North Carolina and Mississippi chopped liver?)
It’s disappointing that the media are so easily manipulated.
Oh wow, thank you very much. I feel all humbled and proud and everything. :o Glad I could help!
And just like our friend ElvisL1ves, I notice you just skipped right on by the facts and straight into avoidance. Bravo!
I must add, however, in the interest of fairness to others reading this thread who might have a genuine interest in the facts of this critically important Presidential race, like ArchiveGuy for instance, I did, indeed, omit one piece of legislation that Hillary Clinton sponsored that became law, because she didn’t bother to provide a link to it on her own Senate website, so I went and hunted it down myself. Here it is:
In the 110th Congress[ul][*]S.694 : A bill to direct the Secretary of Transportation to issue regulations to reduce the incidence of child injury and death occurring inside or outside of light motor vehicles, and for other purposes.[/ul]
Hmm. Limbaugh was apparently urging his dittoheads to go vote for Hillary in the Ohio primary (and will presumably do so in the remaining open primaries – Mississippi, North Carolina, Indiana, West Virginia, Montana and Puerto Rico).
The Republicans really want to run against Hillary.
Oy. How many times will it take for you to get it?
Because I’m not here to defend Clinton’s Senate track record.
There are two reasons I can come up with that you wanted someone to post it. You’ve said that you have no intention of attacking it, because there’s “nothing to attack.” The only other plausible reason you could have is because you intend to consider it in deciding your choice for candidate. Well, there you go. Go wild.
