Led Zeppelin - reforming and touring - for real, this time

Exactly. I know Jimmy Page has a great rep as a guitarist, but about the only guitarists I’d want to hear live with nothing more than a rhythm section are Joe Satriani and Steve Morse.

Turns out it’s not true. And I’m ambivalent about whether that’s good news or not. I was at Madison Square Garden in 1988 for the Atlantic Records 40[sup]th[/sup] Anniversary gig, and while I thoroughly enjoyed that experience, many years have passed and Plant doesn’t sound anywhere near the same.

I saw them in high school…maybe '73? It was the *Stairway to Heaven * tour. They were definitely better in the studio than live. In fact, aside from the coolosity of actually “being” at their concert, I was underwhelmed.

Occasionally I’ll trip down Memory Lane when I hear their music, but for the most part, they haven’t held up well for me.
