Leftists are trying to kill the Right

Some of them try to deny there are any benefits at all to the social contract. These are the immature fools who think that they “did everything on my own”, while ignoring all of the things that have been in place for hundreds of years to make their success possible. The best that we can say about them is that they are willfully blind to reality. That’s the best slant.

I’ve lived remotely for 30 years. I SUPPORT higher taxes for just about everything. I’m a left leaning moderate with no kids. My Wife and I are DINKS. I always vote for additional funding for schools.

I get a little tired of being put in the same bucket as Trump supporting, anti-vax, hyper religious, anti-everything morons.

Not all of us living remotely are the same.

So when one of us has a heart attack or gets in a car wreck, there will be open beds at the hospital.

Let’s not forget, everyone, that Republicans being vaccinated protects Democratic lives, too.

I’ve said it before: Democrats want to make things better for everyone, and are OK with that including making things better for Republicans. Republicans want to make things worse for Democrats, and are OK with that including making things worse for everyone.

Ted Cruz just came out on the side of the NBA anti-vax players, so maybe that will convince them to get vaccinated.

It’s always fun to watch “Alaska: The Last Frontier” or “Life Below Zero”, and see all these rugged individualists decry modern civilization, right before they get on their snowmobiles to hunt elk with their precision binoculars and high powered rifles.

Even the ones who go off in the forest and “live on their own” can only do so because of the social contract.

I could come across one of these preppers in their sleep, murder them and take all their stuff, but I won’t, not only because I choose to follow the social contract not to do things like that, but because he is protected by it, even if he has rejected it.

Leftists are trying to kill the Right

It’s working.

That is a stark divide.

And hysterically funny.

No shit!

As of this week, the death rate for people with COVID-19 was 44.4 per 100,000 in counties that voted over 60 percent Republican in statewide races in 2020. By contrast, counties that went for Democratic statewide candidates by 60 percent or more have a death rate of just 6.8 per 100,000.

Bolding mine.

Not really that funny, though. More “tragic and exasperatingly stupid”.

Ehh… Willfully ignorant. Not just stupid. The data is there. Most of them can get it.

And, their ‘leaders’ aren’t helping them one bit by sending mixed messages.

Ironic that one of the sayings I best remember from Texas is: “Some people just need killin’.”

I interpreted silenus’s comment as referring to ‘It’s working’, as opposed to the data.

I can either laugh or cry about the divide, and I’m all out of tears.

I’m not funny, then. :frowning:

The comment was worth a chuckle. The data…well, the dictionary defines “hysterical” as deriving from or affected by uncontrolled extreme emotion. I’m emotioned out with these no-vax idiots. I’m gonna go home at lunch and hug my cats.

I want all three of you to know I did respond to the guy and I used all of these points to refute his assertions. I did not give any of you credit, but I also did not claim them as my ideas or research. If you would like credit, I will e-mail him again and correct the record. Thank you for not only giving me these very useful tools to combat his rhetoric, but for engaging in the topic and caring about the well being of Americans on the right and on the left (and seeing it is all one population - something the right can’t seem to grasp).

Sorry, forgot to give you credit too! This is where I started my rebuttal with the linked article.

This statement should be cast in concrete on the steps of the governors’ mansions in Texas and Florida. (Maybe DeSantis and Abbot are running a false flag operation trying to make their states blue?)

…Christ, you gave me a fright! :grinning:
