Legal Research Resources

I am not asking for Legal Advice. I understand you are not my lawyer.

Are there any on line resources where a lay person with no legal background or credentials could research case law on specific issues, in limited jurisdictions?

The particulars of my search are: Civil Theft and Unjust Enrichment committed in the State of Colorado. Any cases appealed to a higher jurisdiction, including Colorado State Supreme Court.

I am certain that there are websites where this information is accessible, but I am having difficulty getting “hits” which include what I am looking for, but don’t have mountains of dreck and ads. My Google-fu needs work. :frowning:

I know there are legal types on this board, and if any could direct me to this material, I would be eternally grateful!

Google Scholar.

Find a good sized library – a law library if you can – and ask for a legal encyclopedia of Colorado state law – I believe one of them is called “Colorado Law Annotated” – which should give you a starting point for your research.

You might find this powerpoint from a law school in Colorado helpful - it’s an introduction to research strategies and brings together a lot of information.
