You can buy books of receipts if you prefer to take the safe route. AFAIK they list the item description, the price paid (balance paid/due etc), the person who paid for it, a signature line for the seller, and a transaction # so you can find it in the book later. They use carbon paper so you retain a copy of the receipt.
This isn’t something you’re going to hear me say very often, but this is an occasion where going with the inexpensive pre-printed form document (as suggested by The octagon) seems to be the way to go.
Form receipt books are available at any office supply store.
I’m presuming she is already using some form of a sales contract, right?
You definitely ought to be doing so. And a contract specifically designed for selling live animals, which specifies their apparent condition of health, shots given, any warranty included, conditions and time limits for return of the animal, etc. Such a detailed contract is very valuable to both you and the buyer in case of any disputes.
Bob - Glad you included the explanation, would have gone right over my head otherwise! Gorgeous examples of the breed on your link by the way.
Others - Thanks for the replies. Hadn’t thought about buying a book but given the small volume of sales (likely to be like 6 per year tops) it’s probably not the way to go. I know it costs next to nothing but i can be almost certain i’ll never find the thing when i want it!
Also, i need to write one out asap and dont have time to get to the stationery shop.
Anybody got one that the could just tell me the wording on it or can anyone link to a picture?
